Royal Timiro Calendar Current Year: 1782 Y.R. Over a thousand years after the Timiro Kingdom rose to power, King Spatenrok the Great drove out the ancient dynasty. This brought about a new dynasty and is said to be the start of the "true" Timiro Kingdom. With a new dynasty, it was felt that a new calendar should usher in the new age. The Royal Timiro Calendar was created using the start of the new dynasty being used for year one. This calendar is still in effect 1782 years later, during the second year of King Gredo the Third's rule. Unlike the Elven Calendar, the Royal Timiro Calendar only has 12 months, with each of the four seasons lasting three months. The twelve months are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December. Spring begins the last week of March, summer begins on the last week of June, fall starts during the last week of September, and winter finally starts the final week of December, the last week of the year. Each month has five weeks each. The most unusual part is perhaps the way the days are divided into the weeks. The first, third, and fifth weeks have six days, but the second and fourth weeks have seven days. This seventh day is typically viewed as an extra free day for the people to use as they see fit, causing many businesses to be closed during that time. The extra day in the two weeks was actually instituted by King Gregory the Just as a day of worship. He had this alteration made because he felt the people still lacked a strong sense of spirituality. However, since that time its original purpose has been forgotten. Note 1: I have no clue what Y.R. stands for, but have found reference to it in Palladium Fantasy Book 2: Old Ones. Note 2: The year itself was taken from the Timeline in the Main Book as well as references in Palladium Fantasy Book 2: Old Ones, the First Edition. The year 0 mentioned in that book I would believe is the time that Spatenrok was driving out the old dynasty, not a part of the calendar. Note 3: I originally had other plans for this calendar. But in order to do my best to stick with book continuity, I had to adjust the way I did the months to fit references made in Palladium Fantasy Book 13: Northern Hinterlands. A few months were mentioned within its pages and I felt some Palladium calendar had to use them. This version is rather different from my original plans. |
