The streets are plagued with mercenaries, blood goblins, other types of demons, and some type of freaky warrior mages that call themselves the Second Order. This appears to be the big final push for those making a play for the sword. Both of the other groups appear to have brought a lot of help to secure the sword for themselves. However, Brianne and Angel brought help of their own. While they may not have brought as many people, sometimes when a situation like this arises you realize that quality is much more important than quantity.
Bacard parries an attack from a warrior mage as he steps back; then with another step back parries an attack from the mercenary at his side. He turns and spins the sword behind his back. The warrior mage thinks he has an opening and stretches forward with a spell. It looks like he has some spell at the ready that'll make contact that much more deadly, but he'll never find out. As the sword passes from one hand to the next, Bacard uses his now free hand to grab the warrior mage by the wrist and help guide him passed. Meanwhile, with the sword now in his other hand he comes around the back of the warrior mage and slices into the neck of the mercenary. Then he takes the sword and plunges it into the spine of the warrior mage.
Not far away Valice quickly moves out of the way as a blood goblin leaps at him. With a roundhouse kick Valice hits it in the neck. There is the sound of a snap as the neck breaks. Blood goblins are pathetically weak like that. Their true danger comes from their massive numbers. Another comes at him as he turns and uses the handle of his lion-head sword to hit it in the diaphragm knocking the wind out of its lungs. He spins again bringing the sword around and making a diagonal slash across the chest of the next one which attacks.
In a slightly different part of the city two blood goblins and a mercenary charge at her. Suddenly bolts of lightning streak down from the sky and strike each one of them. A few feet behind her, Clos cuts down a couple of the warrior mages from the Second Order. Standing above them on the second level bridge stands the doll that once controlled Clos. It laughs, "Yes, dance my little puppets dance. Dance all of you." Below Clos pulls a warrior mage's cloak over his head and then stabs through it with his sword and dagger. He quickly pulls them out, and from the motion, causes the body to spin around and hit the ground. Clos lifts his head as if he senses something. Then he looks up at the bridge where the doll stands. In a very calm tone he tells his partner, "Ilsa, find the others. They'll back you up." She asks, "What? Where are you going?" "There's something I have to take care of," he answers. Then he starts to run off. She yells out to him, "Clos, we should stay together!" Clos leaps up onto an awning and then again to get on to a rooftop. The leaps are an amazing feat of acrobatics, probably only made possible by the fact of what he truly is. As he runs across the rooftop he leaps up and onto the second level bridge. The doll sends a bolt of energy at him, which Clos leaps up and over. It is a near hit thought and cuts the bottom of his trench coat. Clos lands and attacks with sword and dagger. The doll doesn't even move its hands as both are suddenly blocked by invisible forces of air. This invisible force knocks him back. With a flip he lands on his feet and slides back. It smiles sweetly at him and blinks innocently, trying to act like the daughter it once portrayed. Clos charges back again. |
