Demon Hunters (Season 1): Game 4
Tie Di Chiang has entered the room.
DreaMwrite1: There we go
DreaMwrite1: Welcome everyone
Jun Nekkara: Hello
DreaMwrite1: Our buddy Meow is playing Asheron's Call
so he will be a bit late
DreaMwrite1: It's obvious what he enjoys more
DreaMwrite1: :-\
Tie Di Chiang: :'(
Tie Di Chiang: :-P
DreaMwrite1: Ah well his char was a tad annoying last
game anyways
Jun Nekkara: :-!
Jun Nekkara: Darn, was late for all of the faces
Tie Di Chiang: brb
DreaMwrite1: As we last left our heroic duo(and that
girl) they were off to defeat an evil demon which they believe was controling
the Sura-Kappa and making them attack the nearby village.
Jun Nekkara: Okay
DreaMwrite1: The boat had recently been attacked by a
group of sura-kappa which had killed the ship's pilot. Luckly the wind is
pushing the boat in the direction of the sura-kappa's cave which you can see in
the distance.
Jun Nekkara: What luck
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh was it?))
DreaMwrite1: You have been told that their caves are
made up of complex underground mazes.
DreaMwrite1: The boat is slowly drifting toward the
caves and is a few minutes away
DreaMwrite1: You all stand there helplessly watching
as you get closer and closer
Jun Nekkara: We should probably wait for Tie to
return
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh ok. ))
DreaMwrite1: *Pause*
Tie Di Chiang: okay, back
DreaMwrite1: *Unpause*
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh if that's even a word))
DreaMwrite1: The boat is still a few minutes away
DreaMwrite1: ((Some talking and planning on what to
do when you get there might help))
Tie Di Chiang: (I think it is a word, but generally
resume is the accepted term)
Jun Nekkara: *after the Sura-Kappa have been driven
off and we had recieved the information (and saved Aira from drowning), I walk
over to the fallen pilot and say a brief prayer over him*
Tie Di Chiang: (sorry, reading what's happened so
far)
Tie Di Chiang: "this does not bode well"
Jun Nekkara: *looks around the ship* "We should try
to make sure they don't come back onboard. I will attempt to bless this ship.
Please warn me if anything else happens"
Tie Di Chiang: "any idea what to expect once we reach
the cave?"
Jun Nekkara: *walks to the center of ship* "I have
none"
Jun Nekkara: "We will find out together"
Jun Nekkara: *closes his eyes and opens his mind to
picture the entire ship. He stretches his hand out, then pull it back in front
of him (palm open)*
Aira Ono has entered the room.
Jun Nekkara: "Forces of the great beyond, protectors
of all that is good. Please protect this vessel from the forces that would harm
us. Drive off this foul darkness" *opens his eyes* "Ward of Protection"
DreaMwrite1: You set up your ward Jun
Tie Di Chiang: *listens to the water and wind*
DreaMwrite1: A bright light surrounds the ship and
then disapears
DreaMwrite1: The ship is only a minute away toward
the cave now
Jun Nekkara: "Do any of you find it odd that the ship
is being drawn into that cave. I do not believe that it is a good sign"
Tie Di Chiang: "it would seem that the current flows
into it..."
Jun Nekkara: "But then again, it may be the only way
to find the demon of which we seek"
Aira Ono: "Either way ithelps us get there"
DreaMwrite1: The boat is knocked against the shore
and comes to a jerky halt
DreaMwrite1: The cave appears to be very deep, going
downward. You only see darkness within
DreaMwrite1: It smells of fish and you hear the
dripping of water inside
Jun Nekkara: "I do not suppose anyone brought a torch
with them"
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh all that power and no one has a
torch))
Aira Ono: (would my force field eluminate?)
DreaMwrite1: It would a little bit but only make you
more easy to see
DreaMwrite1: Rather than the surrounding area
Jun Nekkara: *searches the ship for something to
light up*
Jun Nekkara: (torch, lantern, anything like that)
DreaMwrite1: You find a latern in the ship
Tie Di Chiang: I've actually never defined my
equipment other than clothing
Tie Di Chiang: as a monk I would assume I have an
incense burner or something like thta, but who knows...
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh thats what personal equipment is))
Jun Nekkara: *picks up the lantern* "This should be
adequete. Now to light it"
Tie Di Chiang: yeah, it's an attribute you have to
buy
Jun Nekkara: *looks, there should be something to
light it with since the lantern was right there*
DreaMwrite1: You find a match nearby it
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh I'm going to assume they have
matches in ancient Japan now))
Jun Nekkara: *lights the match and uses it to fuel
the lantern*
Tie Di Chiang: (not matches, but flint and tinder
would be a ubiquitous mundane item)
Jun Nekkara: *takes a couple extra (whatever was used
to light it) with me just in case*
DreaMwrite1: You find flint and tinder
DreaMwrite1: ;-)
DreaMwrite1: All 5 of you are now standing in front
of the cave
Jun Nekkara: "Are you all prepared?"
Tie Di Chiang: "we should stay close together"
Tie Di Chiang: "having but the one light"
Jun Nekkara: *nods* "I agree"
Tie Di Chiang: (unless we can use out special attacks
like flahslights :-D )
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh well that would be a flash of
light but not really long enough to make much out))
Jun Nekkara: ((keep that in mind as a backup))
Tie Di Chiang: "let us proceed then"
Jun Nekkara: *heads forward into the cave*
Tie Di Chiang: *follows*
DreaMwrite1: You carefully enter the cave, noticing
that it seems to slowly slope downward. You feet splash in about 1 feet of
water.
Jun Nekkara: ((Hey, would Garouki glow in the dark? I
don't know if spirit's glow or not))
DreaMwrite1: 1 foot
Jun Nekkara: *treads carefully*
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh not unless he has Environment
Control:Light level 1))
Jun Nekkara: (wants to make sure the water doesn't
take a sudden dive))
DreaMwrite1: You carefully walk through the cave
getting deeper and deeper...
Aira Ono: "Carry me yasha"
DreaMwrite1: Jun you feel something go across your
leg
Jun Nekkara: "There is something else here"
DreaMwrite1: Yasha picks up Aira and holds her over
his shoulder
Jun Nekkara: *looks to try and see what it was*
DreaMwrite1: You see a snake slither past you Jun
Jun Nekkara: "Hmmm.....a snake"
Jun Nekkara: "We are most likely getting close"
DreaMwrite1: The water feels like it is getting a
little deeper now as it gets up to your kneecaps
Jun Nekkara: ((How wide is the cave?))
DreaMwrite1: ((It's pretty wide at about 20 feet))
DreaMwrite1: The walls appear to be spreading out
some now
DreaMwrite1: ((As you go in deeper that is))
DreaMwrite1: The smell of fish is rather strong now
Jun Nekkara: "This room is more than large enough for
something to be hiding under the water in wait"
DreaMwrite1: You all feel something move across your
legs
Jun Nekkara: "We should be extra careful"
Jun Nekkara: *looks to see what it was*
DreaMwrite1: You see nothing bellow you Jun
DreaMwrite1: The air is very foggy
Tie Di Chiang: "that was odd..."
DreaMwrite1: Water drips down the glass of Jun's lamp
Jun Nekkara: *tries to listen very carefully on water
movement*
DreaMwrite1: You notice the water stir some in front
of you
DreaMwrite1: You hear a loud splash from behind you!
Tie Di Chiang: "we are not alone..."
Jun Nekkara: *looks around trying to figure out what
everything is around us*
Tie Di Chiang: "stand back to back in a circle"
Aira Ono: (since im slung over the back of yasha
wouldnt i see the splash?)
DreaMwrite1: You notice three sura-kappa stand behind
you in the water Jun
DreaMwrite1: They are about 10 feet away
Jun Nekkara: *looks back forward*
Jun Nekkara: (where I noticed the water stirring
earlier)
DreaMwrite1: ((Your on top of his shoulder not under
it))
Aira Ono: (i didnt say under it i said over the back
of his shoulder)
DreaMwrite1: The water is very mucky and it is
difficult to see what is under tehre
Jun Nekkara: *hands the lantern to Tie* "Hold this"
DreaMwrite1: ((If you look back then yet you see the
same as Jun))
Tie Di Chiang: "we come in peace!"
DreaMwrite1: One of them makes a nasty screach sound
at you Tie and it dives underwater
Jun Nekkara: *once Tie takes it (hoping he does), I
dive under the water (not going anywhere, just looking) in the hopes of getting
a better view of whatever it was*
DreaMwrite1: You feel something coming at you
underwater Tie
DreaMwrite1: Jun you see a sura-kappa flying right at
Tie like a torpedo
DreaMwrite1: ((well swimming))
Jun Nekkara: (Crap! I can't speak underwater)
DreaMwrite1: Tie you feel something coming at you
underwater
Jun Nekkara: *push hard on Tie's leg to try and get
him to move out of the way*
DreaMwrite1: ((Are ya going to try and get out of the
way or what? +2 penalty trying to dodge in this water though))
DreaMwrite1: Tie you feel Jun pull on your leg
Tie Di Chiang: looking at sheet
Tie Di Chiang: I'll move aside then
Tie Di Chiang: towards the wall
DreaMwrite1: ((Roll 2D6 to dodge))
Tie Di Chiang: 9
DreaMwrite1: ((That with bonuses and penalties?))
Tie Di Chiang: that's natural
DreaMwrite1: You feel something smash into your legs
Tie and you are pulled underwater
Tie Di Chiang: I don't think I have anything that
gives a bonus to dodge...
DreaMwrite1: The lamp falls under also and the cave
becomes pitch black
Jun Nekkara: (What horrible luck)
Aira Ono: *creates bubble field around me and yasha
to give some sort of light srouce*
DreaMwrite1: Jun, Tie you see Yasha and Aira now very
easly but you still can't see any of the kappa
DreaMwrite1: You feel something struggling with you
as you are held underwater Tie
DreaMwrite1: You are quickly running out of air
DreaMwrite1: ((Jun your move then Tie))
Tie Di Chiang: wrestling?
Tie Di Chiang: in a way?
DreaMwrite1: Kind of yes
DreaMwrite1: Jun are you going to do anything?
Jun Nekkara: *well, since I was holding onto his leg,
I hope I still have a good idea where he is. I try to grab onto him and stand
back up and out of the water (my strenght enough may not be enough, but it may
help him)
Jun Nekkara: (atleast let him know which way is up)
Jun Nekkara: ((I type long, give me a break))
DreaMwrite1: Tie ya feel something pull your leg out
of the water
DreaMwrite1: Besides your leg you are still
underwater
DreaMwrite1: Jun you pull out Tie's leg
Jun Nekkara: (So I gathered)
DreaMwrite1: ;-)
Aira Ono: *gets down and in to water up to my stomach
drops field*"Help them out yasha"
DreaMwrite1: ((Tie's turn first Aira))
Tie Di Chiang: okay I'll attempt to escape the
thing's hold
Tie Di Chiang: that's a body stat check with unarmed
defense: wrestling modifiers I believe
DreaMwrite1: ((Make the roll Tie))
Tie Di Chiang: level one skill is -2 with speciality
right?
Tie Di Chiang: well the roll is 4
Tie Di Chiang: I think level one wrestling would make
that a 2
Tie Di Chiang: not sure
Tie Di Chiang: (page 160 for the escape rules)
DreaMwrite1: ((Yup thats how it works Tie))
DreaMwrite1: You fight yourself away from the
creature and quickly come to the surface
DreaMwrite1: You can see Aira and Yasha next to you
surrounded by a blue glow
Tie Di Chiang: yay, me :-)
Tie Di Chiang: hmm, maybe my next chinese character
should be named Yei Mi...
DreaMwrite1: You can "feel" Jun next to you on your
other side
Jun Nekkara: "Best if the three of stand with our
backs to each other"
DreaMwrite1: And a couple kappa a short distance away
Tie Di Chiang: that's what I said earlier :-)
Jun Nekkara: ((*shrugs* Well I guess it never
happened so we should try again))
DreaMwrite1: Yasha puts his back up against Jun,
careful not to drop Aira, and then draws a sword
DreaMwrite1: You feel waves coming at you from the
other direction, Tie and Jun
DreaMwrite1: Do you put your back up against Jun and
Yasha, Tie?
DreaMwrite1 has left the room.
DreaMwrite1 has entered the room.
DreaMwrite1: ((Someone be sure to save the chat when
this game is over))
Tie Di Chiang: yes
DreaMwrite1: The water is very shaky now with the
waves going up to your bellies...
DreaMwrite1: All your backs are up against eachother
Tie Di Chiang: "I think we are surrounded"
DreaMwrite1: A large roar sound fills the tunnels
Jun Nekkara: "I would say that is a safe bet. The
only question I want to know is if the demon we are after is in here"
DreaMwrite1: The water goes completely still
Jun Nekkara: "Okay, two questions. What made that
sound?"
Tie Di Chiang: "I would take that as a yes..."
DreaMwrite1: It appears to have come a little deeper
into the tunnel
Tie Di Chiang: (this seems awfully familiar...)
Jun Nekkara: *slides my foot around trying to see if
I can find the lantern*
DreaMwrite1: Your foot bumps into the lantern Jun
Jun Nekkara: *pulls it towards me, then slides down
their backs and picks it up, but not leaving contact with them*
Tie Di Chiang: (I don't think you're gonna get a lamp
full of water lit again though)
Jun Nekkara: ((can try))
DreaMwrite1: You pull the lamp out and it is very wet
and covered in seaweed
DreaMwrite1: It feels that way anyways
Jun Nekkara: *tries to brush off most of the seaweed
and shake some of the water off*
DreaMwrite1: You shake some of the water off
DreaMwrite1: The tunnel is silent now
Jun Nekkara: *then will try to use some of the extra
flint to light it again (hopes it works)*
DreaMwrite1: Not even the dripping of water
Aira Ono: *coughs*
Jun Nekkara: (when nature itself stops, you know we
are in trouble)
DreaMwrite1: You try to light a fire using the flint
the mist just knocks it back out
DreaMwrite1: But in the breif amount of light you
notice that there are no longer and sura-kappa around
Jun Nekkara: *knocks gently on the lantern to see if
it makes noise (or to see if the roar somehow disrupted our sense of hearing)*
DreaMwrite1: It makes a clank noise which eccoes down
the tunnel
Jun Nekkara: (That is why I said gently, but oh well)
DreaMwrite1: You feel something slide past your leg
Jun
Tie Di Chiang: "mayhap we should press onward a bit?"
DreaMwrite1: The water is up to your waists now
Jun Nekkara: *nudges what just brushed my leg*
Jun Nekkara: (Was it heavy?)
DreaMwrite1: There is nothing now
DreaMwrite1: ...
Jun Nekkara: ((if it happens again, I want to nudge
whatever it was))
DreaMwrite1: The cave is still completely silent
Jun Nekkara: "Okay, we need to come up with a plan
quickly" *whispers to the rest of the group*
Tie Di Chiang: "I'm open to suggestions"
DreaMwrite1: Jun your spirit wolf begins to growl
Jun Nekkara: "Okay, there is definitely something
else in here with us. And I don't think it is friendly"
Jun Nekkara: "But we need to be able to find it"
Tie Di Chiang: "I think it's is ahead of us further
down"
DreaMwrite1: Garouki:"Grrr"
Jun Nekkara: _Hmm, perhaps_ *slams the lantern hard
into the water a full arms lenght away from everyone*
Tie Di Chiang: ".............."
DreaMwrite1: ((So are you going to walk deeper into
the cave?))
Tie Di Chiang: either we go further in, or make our
way back and wait for it...
DreaMwrite1: "Roar!!!"
Jun Nekkara: ((Heh, not planning to yet))
Jun Nekkara: (Is it still sound the same distance?)
DreaMwrite1: It eccoes all over the cave...
Tie Di Chiang: had more exclamation points, so I'd
say it was louder
DreaMwrite1: ((You guessed it))
Jun Nekkara: *continues to whisper* "If it is pitch
black, it may be possible that this thing is attracted to sound or water
vibrations. Either that, or it can see in this darkness. In that case, we are in
some serious trouble"
Aira Ono: "Perhaps we should lure it out"
DreaMwrite1: You notice an odd glow in the far
distance
Aira Ono: "Since its louder its closer and coming to
us"
Tie Di Chiang: if we assume it to be the snake demon,
it likely can detect heat
Jun Nekkara: "Either that or we are just really
making it angry"
Tie Di Chiang: and see in the dark
Jun Nekkara: brb

DreaMwrite1: You notice two tiny lights in the
distance now
Jun Nekkara: (Do they look like eyes?)
DreaMwrite1: You arn't sure
DreaMwrite1: They are still a fair distance away
DreaMwrite1: The lights disapear a few moments later
Tie Di Chiang: "I say we get back to higher ground"
Jun Nekkara: "Perhaps we should try to back off for
now, atleast until we have a plan"
DreaMwrite1: ;-)
Aira Ono: "like i said in the first place...."
DreaMwrite1: You feel the water begin to move
DreaMwrite1: Tiny waves splash into your stomachs
DreaMwrite1: The water is begining to get a litle
higher now
DreaMwrite1: ((This cave is 30 feet from top to
bottem))
DreaMwrite1: The water is up to your chest now
Tie Di Chiang: "uh-oh, I think the tide's coming in"
Jun Nekkara: "Okay then, lets start backing off"
*starts to back off, but tries to stay back to back*
DreaMwrite1: The waves are getting stronger and are
pushing you a little bit
DreaMwrite1: You slowly start to leave the tunnel
DreaMwrite1: You hear a large splash sound in the far
side of the tunnel
DreaMwrite1: The water begins to rise a little more
and is almost up to your necks
Jun Nekkara: "Stay on guard"
Tie Di Chiang: "blub, blub, grrble..."
Jun Nekkara: (Did he leave my back?)
DreaMwrite1: ((Leave my back?))
Jun Nekkara: (We were back to back last I checked)
Jun Nekkara: (So if something pulled him down, I
would think I felt it)
DreaMwrite1: Yes you are still back to back
DreaMwrite1: You hear a loud sound....
DreaMwrite1: A giant wave smashes into all of you
knocking you into the water
Jun Nekkara: *tries to hold onto someone not to get
separated*
DreaMwrite1: Pulling you down
Jun Nekkara: (only one arm, so only one person)
DreaMwrite1: You grab onto Aira Jun
Aira Ono: *struggles*
DreaMwrite1: You are holding your breath but you can
only do it for so long....
DreaMwrite1: ((Everyone roll 2D6))
Jun Nekkara: *swims to back up*
Jun Nekkara: 2
Aira Ono: 4
DreaMwrite1: ((Tie you too))
Tie Di Chiang: 9
DreaMwrite1: Jun you swim up to the top of the tunnel
and pull aira out too
DreaMwrite1: You hear a glug sound and bubbles rising
underwater
DreaMwrite1: You are having to kick your legs as the
water is very deep now
DreaMwrite1: ((Tie your running out of air fast))
Jun Nekkara: "Aira, can you stay afloat on your own?"
Aira Ono: "Ill try"
DreaMwrite1: Tie you notice two glowing dots in the
distance while you are trying to get to the top
DreaMwrite1: ((Roll 2D6 Aira to see if you can keep
above))
Aira Ono: 3
Jun Nekkara: *considering she seems okay, I'll try to
dive back down to get someone else (once it is my turn again)*
DreaMwrite1: Aira you relax yourself and keep afloat
in the water
DreaMwrite1: Jun she looks like she will be fine
DreaMwrite1: Jun you dive underwater and notice Tie
down there
DreaMwrite1: You also notice two glowing dots which
appear to be getting closer
Jun Nekkara: *if he looks like he is headed to the
surface, I'll look for Yasha, otherwise I'll try to help Tie to above the water*
DreaMwrite1: You hear a blub sound as if Tie is
running out of air
Jun Nekkara: *keeps focused on the two eyes as I go
up (after getting Tie)*
DreaMwrite1: You swim down and grab onto Tie(roll 2D6
to see if you can make it to the top))
Jun Nekkara: Rolled a 7
Jun Nekkara: (Hmm, I don't think that is a good
thing)
Jun Nekkara: ((Body Stat of 5 and Swimming Skill of
1))
DreaMwrite1: You just barely grab onto Tie and swim
to the surface
DreaMwrite1: Tie you take in a breath of fresh air
but still feel a bit weak
DreaMwrite1: You feel something huge pass underwater
bellow
Jun Nekkara: *looks around* "Still no Yasha"
DreaMwrite1: Yasha bursts up out of the water next to
Aira
Tie Di Chiang: a bellowing water snake...
DreaMwrite1: Along with Garouki
Jun Nekkara: (I couldn't have Garouki if I tried (Incoporeal
after all))
DreaMwrite1: ((Heh ya))
Jun Nekkara: "We should try to get against a wall.
That should help you all support yourselves"
DreaMwrite1: Your heads are almost to the roof of the
cave now
DreaMwrite1: You notice to red lights glowing in
front of you now
Jun Nekkara: "What are you? And what do you want with
us?"
DreaMwrite1: "Ssssshall I turn up the lights sssssome?"
DreaMwrite1: The cave is filled with red light
coming from the eyes of a giant snake....
DreaMwrite1: It is covered in thick black scales and
it's mouth is full of razor sharp teeth...
DreaMwrite1: It has tiny arms which end in long
sharp claws like a hawk
Jun Nekkara: "I do not wish to do battle with you.
We have come here to ask you to leave the village of (gives name of village)
alone. We cannot allow their persucution to continue"
DreaMwrite1: ((Well tiny compared to the rest of it.
The arms are big enough to pick you up still))
DreaMwrite1: Its body fills up most of the cave as
its head touches the top of the cavern
DreaMwrite1: You see a faint light in the distance
behind it
DreaMwrite1: "Oh yes I will leave and make cookies
for all of you."
DreaMwrite1: "And we can laugh and share stories"
Jun Nekkara: "If you didn't sound so sarcastic, I
would not mind such an exchange"
DreaMwrite1: "Ugh I hate dealing with preists. They
taste rather disgusting."
DreaMwrite1: "Ah well it's all a part of a serpent's
healthy diet."
DreaMwrite1: It's back is covered in sharp spines
which are as long as you Jun and Tie are tall
Jun Nekkara: "Please do not force us to defend
ourselves. I have no desire to see anyone come to harm. Not even a demon"
DreaMwrite1: It appears to be ignoring you now as it
looks over the others
DreaMwrite1: "Ah a child now those are particulary
tasty"
Aira Ono: "In your dreams"
Jun Nekkara: "Steer your eyes clear of her demon"
DreaMwrite1: You see green saliva dripping from it's
teeth and onto the water
Jun Nekkara: (does it have any kind of reaction?)
DreaMwrite1: "And a shao-lin monk! I havn't had one
of those in centuries"
DreaMwrite1: "You honestly think you can order me
around!!" the caves shake as his roar eccoes throughout the cave
DreaMwrite1: >:o
Jun Nekkara: "For the last time demon, I beg of you.
Leave us and and the village alone"
DreaMwrite1: "Now it is very nice that you would
come to be eaten personally and I appretiate that, but honestly..."
Aira Ono: *whipers to Tie*"any way we can make a
cave on it?"
Aira Ono: (cave in on it)
DreaMwrite1: "Go ahead and kick and scream that
makes the meal much more fun after all."
Tie Di Chiang: no idea
DreaMwrite1: "What your going to be silent now?"
DreaMwrite1: "Sigh alright be boring."
Jun Nekkara: *swims slightly in front of the others*
"Why do you feel compelled to try and destroy us?"
DreaMwrite1: You see the giant creature reach one of
its clawed hands toward you Aira
Aira Ono: *creates bubble force field to stop it*
DreaMwrite1: "Not destroy you eat you. I can't help
but go for desert first"
DreaMwrite1: "Hmm I didn't know human children
glowed..."
Aira Ono: (bubble around the group whole thats what
bubble is for)
DreaMwrite1: He grabs onto Aira though touching the
field rather than Aira's body
DreaMwrite1: ((oh ok))
DreaMwrite1: His clawed hand hits the force field
bubble

creature's head and into the ceiling. A large pile of rocks fall on top of the

and the creature is stopped

bolts of electricity go along his head

the cave now and even with half it's body coiled up in a circle around the boat
it still dwarfs the boat. It's about 60ft tall at the moment

course toward the boat and swim off in different directions
DreaMwrite1: The boat is just floating, dead in the
water now.

entertainning."

servants. Hold the forces of evil at....." *sigh of relief* "It appears that our
troubles, and those of the village, may be over now"

cloud in front of the boat which is hovering above the water

anyways?"

journy after all. I wasn't sure but I'm positive after seeing all that"
