(18:50:10) ((GM)_Prysus): And all right, I think I'll start at the top of the hour.(18:50:21) (PC)_Trent): k(19:01:00) ((GM)_Prysus): Okay, think I'm set. Ready? And any objections to fast forwarding a bit?(19:01:12) (PC)_Trent): ready. And no objections(19:01:56) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ...(19:07:14) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky and the group disembark the Silver Hawk on the other side of the Torn Earth. However, with their vehicle on the other side they will now have to head on foot. Overhearing their conversation a local citizen mentions "a rancher" who deals with mounts outside of the city and in the fields near the mountains (given better directions, but I'm just giving basic info/setting). Vehicles are a hard find in the setting of Final Enclave, and mounts sounds like their best option. Unfortunately, when reaching the ranch, they see the stables and pens empty, and there is a sign that says "Out of business"!(19:08:13) (PC)_Trent):(19:08:27) (PC)_Trent): *looks for any signs of a forelorn owner*(19:09:49) ((GM)_Prysus): D20.(19:10:33) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (2)=2.(19:11:02) (PC)_Trent): ((19:13:33) ((GM)_Prysus): There are no signs of the owner. The place looks like it's fallen into a bit of disrepair. It's not hopeless, or a safety hazard/condemned, just that it looks like it's seen better days and could use some repairs. The owner doesn't appear to be anywhere to be found, and it looks like the place has been closed up for a few days now.(19:14:11) (PC)_Trent): "Doesn't look like anyone is home.(19:14:27) (PC)_Trent): "Did someone buy up all the mounts, I wonder?"(19:16:31) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday, "Not sure, but doesn't look like we'll get much luck here."(19:17:29) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, "Did the owner of this place lose his primary programming?(19:18:50) (PC)_Trent): "Don't know... maybe something happened... or he moved on. Or an enemy overwhelmed him and he had to fold."(19:18:55) (PC)_Trent): "Or she..."(19:22:15) (PC)_Trent): "Anyone know tracking?(19:29:26) ((GM)_Prysus): The ears of Holiday perk a bit as he asks, "Do you hear that?" A short moment later there is faint noise from one of the fields. It's a dog barking. From the look of it the dog appears to be a herding dog of sorts. This is not one of the sentient animals, but a pet type. Even though the Bomb changed the face of the world in Final Enclave, not all were affected by it. Right now it looks rushed, it's bark sounding more urgent as it makes a line for the ranch.(19:29:54) (PC)_Trent): "Let's follow it."(19:33:24) (PC)_Trent): *trotts after the dog, alert from possible enemies chasing it, or being led in to rescue someone.*(19:45:51) ((GM)_Prysus): Scene: A human male is in a narrow mountain pass. Large rocks fall from above and he narrowly avoids it, but it is taking everything he has. He looks scared, definitely not a fighter type. As he dodges one he falls to the floor. Another is coming down right towards him. He's not going be able to dodge it from his current position. The man pulls his hands up over his head in an instinctive response, but it's not going to help much. Suddenly the rock shatters with its debris spreading out and away from him. The man hesitantly looks up. In the wake of boulder stands Sky holding her sword. He shakingly asks, "Who ... who are you? How did you find me?"Sky smiles, "We had some help." The man lights up as he sees the dog. "Ralph! You came back. From their trajectory and rate of fall it looks like someone is throwing the boulders down, but from the group's current position they can't see who it is, but there is likely more than one. Sky, "We should get you out of here." (19:45:58) ((GM)_Prysus): The dog starts suddenly barking louder, then its ears go down to its head and starts whimpering. Emerging from one of the rock face walls is ... a giant rock monster! It looks about 8 feet in height, made from pure rock, and now blocking their path. Holiday, "Well that's a new type of enemy."(19:52:54) (PC)_Trent): "Nothing we can't face." *grins.* "Gil! Use the waterstone. Water errodes earth like nothing else. Let's see how tough he is when he's all a bunch of mud.(19:54:40) ((GM)_Prysus): And initiatives.(19:54:54) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (20)+1=21.(19:55:01) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky, Holiday, Aerial, Evrym2, Gil, Rock Monster ...(19:55:04) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 6d20 and gets (11,18,17,18,15,16)=95.(19:55:24) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent gets high initiative.(19:55:45) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky has lower initiatives (often), but keep in mind she also has a weapon upgrade that weighs her down.(19:56:12) (PC)_Trent): oO(Electricity and rocks don't usually mix.) *tries to slash at the knee in a swift strike and dart back to his group.*(19:56:25) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (3)+8=11.(19:57:02) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent does ... zero damage!(19:58:07) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday, "Huh, I wonder how tough this thing really is." *He aims and shoots.* *Evrym2 will go in for a slash.*(19:58:11) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 2d20 and gets (13,20)=33.(20:00:56) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday hits, but it doesn't look like it does any damage either! Evrym2 on the other hand slashes into it deeply, and bits of rock pieces go flying off from the impact. It's not defeated yet, but it did take some decent damage from the attack.(20:01:32) (PC)_Trent): "Only criticals seem to hurt it(20:02:05) (PC)_Trent): "Aerial! Do you have any status affects to reduce armor?"(20:02:35) ((GM)_Prysus): ((It's herbs. Herbs.(20:02:44) (PC)_Trent): "Er, herbs!"(20:04:27) ((GM)_Prysus): The Rock Monster ... lifts its arms and slams them both into the ground. Due to its size and massive power it is able to cover a decent portion of the ground to attack more than one. I'm going to roll a D6 to see how many are included in its area.(20:04:29) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d6 and gets (4)=4.(20:05:57) ((GM)_Prysus): 4 members of the group! Though I'm not going to roll for each person so I'll just say Trent, Holiday, Sky, and Gil ...(20:06:01) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 4d20 and gets (17,15,4,9)=45.(20:06:16) ((GM)_Prysus): Oops! That should only be 3D20 (so eliminate the last one).(20:06:29) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (18)+8=26.(20:06:30) ((GM)_Prysus): Rock monster (attack roll) ...(20:06:32) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d20 and gets (20)=20.(20:06:37) ((GM)_Prysus):(20:06:41) (PC)_Trent):(20:09:40) ((GM)_Prysus): All four are hit by its massive fist slam and take fair damage. That would have been an easy kill if they were lower level, but now it's not nearly as bad, not that they'd want to take many more like that. Aerial, "My herbs only work on people with a working biology. They don't work on rocks." *Said as she uses a herb to help heal Gil (who is the newest and therefore one of the weaker fighters).*(20:10:49) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil then Sky ...(20:10:52) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 2d20 and gets (7,5)=12.(20:11:58) ((GM)_Prysus): Player suggestions/orders ... to attack the wounded spot (where Evrym2 hit). It requires a called shot, but they're not hurting it with much else right now.(20:12:24) (PC)_Trent): *attacks that spot* (when his turn is up.)(20:12:36) ((GM)_Prysus): It's Trent's turn.(20:12:44) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (16)+8=24.(20:12:51) (PC)_Trent): *slices that spot(20:14:35) ((GM)_Prysus): It hits well and does further damage. The area around the wound starts to crack outward, as if the Rock Monster is going to crack in half. One more hit like that should do it.(20:14:46) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday/Evrym2 ...(20:14:49) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 2d20 and gets (4,16)=20.(20:15:58) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday's bullets do little damage to the wound, but Evrym2 is true to target again and manages to finish it off!(20:16:19) (PC)_Trent): "Nicely done, Evrym2.(20:18:40) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, "Thank you." Sky, "Agreed. But let's save the congratulations until after we get out of here. Let's get going before another shows up."(20:20:38) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And skip ahead to a safer environment.))(20:20:54) (PC)_Trent): (sure we can skip ahead a bit(20:21:08) (PC)_Trent): (wait...)(20:21:17) (PC)_Trent): (is the civillian still around?)(20:21:29) (PC)_Trent): (would take him to safe place too(20:21:54) ((GM)_Prysus): Yes, yes he is.(20:23:42) (PC)_Trent): (then sure, skip ahead til we're all safe(20:27:15) ((GM)_Prysus): The group gathers are the ranch again, but this time they are let in by its owner, the man they saved. He puts some food in Ralph's bowl an addresses the group, "Thank you for saving my life. I'd repay you if I could, but I'm afraid I have little to offer."Sky, "We didn't do it for the money. What were you doing out there anyways?" (20:28:12) (PC)_Trent): *looks at him curiously, listening intently*(20:43:43) ((GM)_Prysus): Human, "This is my ranch, or at least it is now. My father used to own this place. I used to help him as a kid, but then when I got older I decided to go live in the city. But, then he passed away. I decided to come back and try to run the place myself. At first things went well enough, but then bandits took all of my stock. I tried to get more, but the herds stopped coming through. I found out that those things had been blocking the pass used from grazing grounds to their nesting grounds. I didn't know what to do, so I went to see if I could fix the problem myself."(20:44:47) (PC)_Trent): *turns to Sky* "Soo... options are to take on the bandits... or to take on the rock guys."(20:45:03) (PC)_Trent): "Either way, we could get some mounts for him, and for us.(20:51:44) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday, "Taking on the Bandits won't solve the problem, only delay it until next time. The only way to really help him is to handle it from the source." *Holiday looks bothered by the mention of taking on the bandits, not that he would ever admit it. It's true the bandits did something wrong, but it's still a part of his past, and there is always the possibility the bandits who did it was his.*(20:52:33) (PC)_Trent): "What source?" *curious* "Go find thier boss and put a stop to it?"(20:55:03) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday, "If we only focus on the bandits another gang can come along. Besides, to make profit he'll need to start selling them. Then what will he do? He'll need fresh breeds sooner or later, and the only way to do that is to clear the pass of those monsters."(20:55:41) ((GM)_Prysus): Aerial, "How can such things even exist?"(20:58:20) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky, "I think this is where the Earth Stone originated. Those things are probably a side effect."Holiday, "So do you think it's still here then?" Sky, "I doubt it." (20:59:15) ((GM)_Prysus): ((The game doesn't do magic.(20:59:41) (PC)_Trent): "Someone created them in a lab?" *considers.* "Or maybe it's a race."(20:59:47) (PC)_Trent): ((21:00:14) (PC)_Trent): "Okay... so maybe they're protecting something?"(21:02:25) ((GM)_Prysus): Aerial, "It's possible. If this is only a recent problem then something has had to change."(21:04:15) (PC)_Trent): "Maybe someone recently stole the earth stone and they're angry. Or maybe it recently created them. No way of knowing unless we can find a way to talk to them." *thoughtfully*(21:10:57) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky, "Well, if we want a chance of finding out then our choice is clear. We'll take care of the threat at the mountain pass."(21:13:30) (PC)_Trent): *nods* "Alright, let's go. I recommend a strategy of the bigger hitters cutting into the legs and Gil try to widen the wound with the water stone."(21:13:39) (PC)_Trent): "Fire and electricity probably will have no effect >_< "(21:16:04) ((GM)_Prysus): ((For note: Trent has seen what the Water Stone does on the Silver Hawk. It can freeze objects/people for a turn.))(21:17:56) (PC)_Trent): (ah, okay, so not as useful as I thought :-? pity(21:20:56) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil, "With their size, I wouldn't likely be able to freeze more than a single limb. And without a large source of water available it doesn't have any other options." ((Mind you, after he learns a Special Technique he may be able to learn a new ability such as that, but it may not be the best to learn it solely for this story arc if it won't come in much use later. We'll see what player does if Gil learns one.(21:21:10) (PC)_Trent): (ah, okay)(21:22:27) (PC)_Trent): *heads to the path and tries to find a way up that isn't so prone to ambush by falling rocks.*(21:26:09) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And okay, how much of the battles do you want to do? You fought on earlier, want to just skip to the normal fights?))(21:27:05) (PC)_Trent): ( :-? we can skip to the boss/important fights(21:38:55) ((GM)_Prysus): The group finds a path that lets them fight the Rock Monsters without giving them the easier high ground advantage. As they get into yet another fight Sky sighs, "We really don't want to fight all of you."In a rough and grumbling voice the Rock Monster speaks, "Then what do you want here?" There is a pause as everyone looks at it. Aerial replies, "So you really can speak?" Rock Monster, "All Rockmen speak, but you don't speak Hard." (21:40:52) (PC)_Trent): "The rancher below wants to get some herds of horses. Is it possible to come to some arrangement to let him and the horses pass?"(21:41:05) (PC)_Trent): oO(and his little dog too)(21:41:32) (PC)_Trent): "Herds of mounts* "(21:46:42) ((GM)_Prysus): Rockman, "That is not our place to decide. New Rockmen Supreme has ordered none shall pass our lands. All Rockmen must obey."(21:49:09) (PC)_Trent): "Who is the New Rockmen Supreme?"(21:54:45) ((GM)_Prysus): Rockman, "Supreme is the strongest. He used his power to conquer all Rockmen tribes."(21:55:26) (PC)_Trent): *raises his eyebrows.* "Can we meet him?"(21:59:10) ((GM)_Prysus): Rockman, "Hrrmmm ..." *Said in a deep grumble as if thinking about it.* "You should know he will probably try to kill you."(22:01:05) (PC)_Trent): oO(Story of my life. >_< ) *turns to Sky with a smile* "Your call, Boss. This way would be the most... expedient."(22:03:26) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky smiles and replies (to the Rockman), "We've had plenty of people try to kill us before. One more won't be anything new.(22:18:28) ((GM)_Prysus): Rockman, "Hmmm ... very well. Follow me." *He turns and leads the way.*(22:20:34) (PC)_Trent): *follows*(22:25:00) ((GM)_Prysus): They are lead to a large gathering of Rockmen. As they walk they clearly have the attention of everyone of them in the area, but none of them seem to attack or make motions beyond watching. The Rockman leading them takes them to a large cave opening. Inside they find more Rockmen and, sitting on a large rocky throne, is one very massive Rock Monster. The others are around 8 feet in height, but this one makes them look tiny in comparison and even at full height they don't even surpass his leg. If the Rockmen Supreme were standing on its feet it would likely be at least 20 feet in height.(22:25:59) (PC)_Trent): oO(Rather impressive. @_@ )(22:26:15) (PC)_Trent): oO(So he is the "change." )(22:31:12) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And I'm having trouble thinking due to fatigue. I don't want to cut you off though if you're typing, but otherwise I think I'm going to have to call it here.))(22:32:20) (PC)_Trent): (ah, thought Sky was about to talk.(22:32:26) (PC)_Trent): thanks for running *hugs*(22:32:40) ((GM)_Prysus): Thanks for playing. *Hugs.*(22:32:45) ((GM)_Prysus): Sorry about the slow end.(22:33:12) (PC)_Trent): np |
