(17:39:18) ChatBot: lady_coldstrife enters the channel.(17:39:26) ChatBot: lady_coldstrife is now known as (PC)_Trent).(17:39:30) ChatBot: Prysus enters the channel.(17:46:01) ChatBot: Prysus is now known as ((GM)_Prysus).(17:46:09) ((GM)_Prysus): And sorry, was just getting food out of the oven first.(17:46:32) ((GM)_Prysus): Ready?(17:46:38) (PC)_Trent): ready.(17:46:50) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ...(18:04:32) ((GM)_Prysus): After catching some Feathered Runners and helping out the rancher Sky and the others continue on their quest to stop Beta. The Feathered Runners run briskly over the terrain. While it is true they lost some time to catch them they are ultimately saving time due to their speed. It has been three days now. They have had several battles along the way. The group is definitely stronger then they were a few days ago. With the ability of the Feathered Runners to go places it would be difficult for any Terran they have fought opponents far tougher than they would have on the ground and the group is leveling nicely. They should be ready to fight Beta, at least after they make their way through his complex. It'll be a tough fight, but one they can win given time and determination. The location of Beta's base varies depending on the storyline one takes.(18:05:05) ((GM)_Prysus): In this particular version it is where things began. Not just for Beta, not just for Sky and the others, but for so much more, where the world had its second start. They are making their way across the land to the science facility responsible for creating The Bomb. That is where Beta will be waiting, and that is where they fate of the world will be decided once again. Tomorrow is the day; tomorrow is the day that this conflict will finally come to an end. The group has come to a stop, tethering the Feathered Runners to branches of nearby trees. Two of the Feathered Runners nuzzle each other under the night sky. The game has shifted into a cut scene more or less. There is some interaction and choices, but there is no combat and the scenes are mostly fixed with the exception of some dialogue.(18:05:09) ((GM)_Prysus): The scene shifts to Trent. He's sitting on the grass looking up at the stars, his legs dangle off the edge of grassy uprising the looks down upon a beautiful valley beneath. In the valley below he can see two sky wolves frollic in the moonlight. Both play, and then chase each other and scoot off elsewhere in their games. A sky wolf is one of the many mutations that took place before the Bomb. Human scientists wanting play masters of the universe and toying with nature, mixing the genes of animals and cloning. That is how the Feathered Runners came about, at least the first breeds. More have come sense from careful breeding by ranchers like the one they met not long ago. Behind Trent are some trees and brush that start to rustle. Trent looks to see Aerial emerging from behind their cover.(18:05:14) ((GM)_Prysus): ((Done for now.))(18:08:42) (PC)_Trent): *waves to Aerial*(18:09:38) ((GM)_Prysus): *Aerial gives a wave back with a smile.* "I'm sorry. I didn't know anyone else would be out here. Would you prefer to be left alone?"(18:10:15) (PC)_Trent): *shakes his head with a smile.* "I don't mind the company, really."(18:11:10) (PC)_Trent): "I was just thinking... when this is over, and everyone becomes just... a memory to eachother, what effect we will all have on eachother over the course of the rest of our lives. Nothing too broody, honest.(18:11:47) (PC)_Trent): oO(Except... they'll all be gone. The only thing left of them really will be their memories.)(18:12:41) (PC)_Trent): oO(When I leave, I won't be able to come back, not in the same way. Even if I play the game again, it would never be... the same.)(18:13:47) ((GM)_Prysus): *Aerial takes a seat on the grass near him. She looks up at the stars as the sparkle like diamonds in the night sky.* "I was just thinking about grandmother. I'm so far away from home, but somehow when I look up into the sky I still feel like she's close-by. So I came for a better view of it."(18:14:28) (PC)_Trent): "Ah. I like the stars." *looking up.*(18:18:10) ((GM)_Prysus): Aerial, "I wonder about what's going to happen. It's hard to imagine that such a thing can happen in a place so beautiful. But I think everything will be okay." *Her voice is upbeat and full of spirit.* "Grandmother always said the stars were looking out for us, and if you look at them close enough you can see them winking at you telling you that everything is going to be okay." *One of the stars twinkles brightly for a moment almost on cue, and she lets out a giggle as if finding it amusing and cute.*(18:19:36) (PC)_Trent): "The Skywolves are cool to watch, too. And... that's a very optomistic view. I may have lost that... optomism somewhere. When I stare at the stars, and... it reminds me of how I used to look at them when I was little, wanting to get away, to go out far away, further than anyone had ever been before. Partly to explore, partly to get away, partly for... other reasons. Now... " *shrugs* "I'm facing an enemy, with good friends at my side, knowing that afterwards things will change, drastically." oO(And odds are I'll never see you again.(18:26:45) ((GM)_Prysus): Aerial, "Maybe things will change. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. If things never changed we'd never get anything done." *She places a hand over his in a comforting manner.* "We have gone further than any have in a very long time. It's a new journey for us constantly, and we can't be afraid just because things aren't going to be the same anymore. After tomorrow some of us may never see each other again ..." *She's indicating death, as they know they're going to face Beta and the odds of all of them surviving is slim. Yet she doesn't sound sad or down about the fact.* "But I know I will carry all of you around with me in my heart. Even if I never see you again you will still be with me. If even just one of us makes it out of this then we all will, and the world will see a bright new day."(18:27:51) (PC)_Trent):(18:28:43) (PC)_Trent): "Thank you, that means a lot. And I will remember you, all of you, in my heart."(18:29:31) (PC)_Trent): *laughs.* "You're right, things always change. Sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. This experience may have even changed me. After all... I get to journey with my heroes.(18:32:02) ((GM)_Prysus): Aerial, "And I get to journey with good friends. No matter what happens tomorrow, I wouldn't take back these last days for anything."(18:34:54) (PC)_Trent): "I'm glad.(18:35:06) (PC)_Trent): "Home and safe, with memories of all of us.(18:35:19) ((GM)_Prysus): "What about you? Do you have anyone waiting for you?(18:35:57) (PC)_Trent): *grins* "Yes, yes I do."(18:36:54) ((GM)_Prysus): "I'm glad. I'll bet they'll be glad when you return to them too."(18:37:12) (PC)_Trent): "I have close friends and loved ones that... I have to believe are watching over me, even now, and wanting my safe return."(18:39:13) (PC)_Trent): *looks around to see if Evrym2 is lurking about.*(18:40:13) ((GM)_Prysus): No, he isn't, at least not at the present.(18:41:17) (PC)_Trent): "Aerial... I just want to say... thank you. These past few days you've been there for me, and it has meant a lot. Whenever I'm feeling homesick, or sad, you always have a way to cheer me up. I want you to know I appreciate that.(18:44:56) ((GM)_Prysus): *She smiles.* "I'm you're friend, and that's what friends do. We look out for each other. You don't need to thank me for that, because you're a good person and deserve it. If you weren't then you wouldn't be here right now."(18:45:51) (PC)_Trent):(18:46:10) (PC)_Trent): (and okay, we can switch to a new scene.(18:47:11) ((GM)_Prysus): ((Okay, I'm going to type two scenes, then we'll go from there. So it could be a bit.(18:57:36) ((GM)_Prysus): Scene 1: Gil Lowtide is by a stream filling up the canteens. Evrym2 is there with him. Inquisitively Evrym2 asks, "Why are we here?"Gil looks at him, then replies, "Because living beings need water. Some of us more than others." Evrym 2, "That is not what I meant. Why are we here? In this place? On this world? I know we are to fight Beta, but haven't you ever asked yourself why? Is there some great cosmic machine that controls things. If we all die tomorrow will any of it really matter?" Gil, "What are you asking me for?" Evrym 2, "Because you are the only one here." Gil, "These kind of questions aren't really my thing. You're better off asking someone else. Why not ask Trent? He seems to understand how you work better." Evrym2 sighs and then replies, "I see. I am sorry to have bothered you." (18:57:43) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil looks at him, and closes up the last of the canteens. "I don't know. I've never asked. I don't think it matters. It doesn't matter why we're here. What matters is what we do while we are. If we were here by some grand design or by pure chance, would it affect what you do while here? In my opinion, if yo uwant to live a good life then don't waste time wondering about things you have no control over. Enjoy what you have while you have it. That's all I can tell you. I hope it helps."Evrym2, "I believe so. Thank you for your words." Gil, "Yeah, don't mention it. Now let's get back to the others." (19:16:26) ((GM)_Prysus): Scene 2: Sky and Holiday sit near the campfire. Fireflies hover in the area as the two stare into the fiery pit. The Air Runner of Aerial and the Feathered Runner of Evrym2 can be seen in the background. Sky, "So when this is all over what do you think you're going to do?"Holiday, "I don't know. I'm thinking about retiring, maybe settling down somewhere." (19:18:22) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky, "Really? I somehow didn't see you as the settling down type. Fighting seems in your blood."Holiday gives a cringe of pain. "You're not the first to tell me those same words. Funny thing about killing though. You do so long enough and you find yourself at an abyss looking down. Once there you have trouble remembering how you got there or how to get back. But there, at that moment, staring into the endless pit you find you have only two choices. One: Keep killing. Keep killing until you find you're surrounded by the abyss and you know nothing else. Killing is all that is left and that's all you can do. Or two: Give it up and try to find something better. I think I've lost my taste for it. I don't want to kill anymore." Sky, "I'm sorry, I didn't know. You don't have to come with us tomorrow. We can handle Beta on our own." Holiday, "No, you can't. But don't worry, I'm not there yet. I think I still have one more day in me." (19:20:06) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky smiles at him, "Thank you. I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you for all you've done for me."Holiday, "Aw, don't get all soft on me now. I'm not doing it for you. It's like a bachelor party. I just want to go out with one last big bang." *He makes the motion of a gun with his hand and points it towards the fire as he says the world 'bang.'* Sky smiles, more familiar with his tough guy routine. "So, what do you think you'll do when you retire?" Holiday, "Don't know. Was thinking about maybe going to live on a ranch." Sky, "You don't mean ..." Holiday, "Hey, someone's got to help him protect his stock." She gives a friendly laugh, "Well, I'm sure you'd be great at it. (19:20:19) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil and Evrym2 enter in from one side. Gil, "We're not interrupting, are we?"Aerial and Trent enter in from the other side. Sky smiles welcoming to both, "No, come on and join us. This is our last night here. We don't know what tomorrow will bring, but for tonight we dine with good friends, so let's just treasure this moment." In the background a Fire Runner can be seen walking off with a very large branch still tied to its reigns and being dragged along the ground. (19:20:25) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And done.))(19:21:21) (PC)_Trent): *yelp* "Get back here!(19:21:27) (PC)_Trent): *scampers after the Fire Runner*(19:28:55) (PC)_Trent): oO(I don't know what tomorrow will bring... but I will treasure these memories.) *takes one final look around at his friends with a sad smile.* (and good to FF(19:44:02) ((GM)_Prysus): And okay, the scene finishes (and yes they get the Fire Runner back as there was no real danger of losing it). In the morning it is a short ride to the base of Beta. Due to the designs of the complex they will have to leave the Feathered Runners outside. The group starts to make their way through the complex. It is clear they were expected as the defense systems of the facility have been activated. They continue making their way through the complex going through things like automated drones, many as tough or tougher than Evrym2, floating and moving land mines, automated turrets, and others.(19:44:24) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ... ((That was just a transition post.))(19:52:53) ((GM)_Prysus): The group stands before a long hallway. There is a very long line of wall mounted lasers that activate the moment anyone comes close. They're extraordinarily fast, and the actual barrel and weapon built behind the wall so that it can't be targeted from a distance and only a shielded wall is hit otherwise. Sky dashes in. The lasers fire rapidly. Quickly she moves and dodges, maneuvering out of the way of each one. With a quick swipe of her sword she slashes into the walls then dashes forward again. Watching her move is like watching poetry in motion, her speed and agility truly the stuff of legends. She is making quick work of the defense system. Suddenly ahead of her appears one of the defense robots. She can't dodge the lasers and the robot at the same time!(19:52:56) ((GM)_Prysus): Quickly she pounces onto the wall as he sword runs along it cutting into the lasers. As she lands a shot blares out as the robot is hit. From the other end of the hall Holiday already has her covered, all that was needed was for her to be out of the line of fire. Before the robot can recover it is hit by a bolt of lightning from Trent and explodes. By the time the explosion clears Sky is standing at the other end of the hall with her sword over her shoulder. "Well come on. What are you just standing around for? We don't have all day.(19:53:16) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And done. Continue from there.(19:54:21) (PC)_Trent): *grins and runs to catch up.* "We were admiring the view.(19:58:06) ((GM)_Prysus): The group all catches up. On the other end of the hall is a small platform with a massive drop off. They can see several different floors with only small platforms extending from various doorways. To get from one to the other the group needs to use a small hover skiff. The skiff is effectively a platform with controls that can move around. It's large enough to fit approximately 10 people, and a pilot. There is a place for Trent's Turbo Tech.(19:59:06) (PC)_Trent): (I was just about to ask before I saw last sentence.(19:59:24) (PC)_Trent): "Everyone get on, get low, and and hold on tight."(20:01:07) ((GM)_Prysus): The group all gets on. As Trent starts it moving Holiday asks, "You do know how to pilot this thing, right?" By the time he gets it out though there is little time for them to do anything other than hold on for dear life.(20:01:40) (PC)_Trent): "Ask me five minutes from now.(20:01:57) (PC)_Trent): oO(It's okay... I saw this in a video game once!)(20:02:07) ((GM)_Prysus): ((Teehee.))(20:03:32) (PC)_Trent): *tries to fly the skiff, going slowly at first and on the lookout for any cool items* (habits(20:03:52) ((GM)_Prysus): And okay, the skiff section is mostly to give Trent some time on his piloting (because it's a rounded game, but we can do as much or as little with this as the player would like, fast forwarding the rest).(20:04:10) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (49)=49.(20:05:04) ((GM)_Prysus): As they start to move on the skiff other skiffs start to activate and robot pilots mount up. Similar to when he had to drive the boat in the Lake of Life he will have to avoid the others, so he doesn't take damage as well as avoiding letting boarders onboard theirs.(20:05:13) ((GM)_Prysus): Enemy skiffs ...(20:05:15) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d100 and gets (6)=6.(20:05:22) (PC)_Trent): ((20:05:23) ((GM)_Prysus):(20:05:36) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ...(20:08:00) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent is trying to avoid one of the skiffs approaching from the side when suddenly the entire skiff is shaken hard and starts to tilt! A third skiff came up from right beneath them where he couldn't see it. The new skiff started to lift up one side of theirs. Sky and the others hold on for dear life as Trent manages to stabilize it. However, now they have an enemy skiff on both sides. Robots from both enemy skiff leap on to attack the group.(20:09:22) ((GM)_Prysus): The skiff has taken some damage, but it can still take a few more hits like that (1 of 10, though if they hit it enough times they will have to abandon it).(20:10:17) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And done typing.))(20:10:54) (PC)_Trent): *concentrates on making some fast maneuvers, sudden drops & raises etc, but aims so that he's using gravity itself and inertia as much as possible to not throw his team mates (not sure if you've ever been on something fast and been pushed into seat)(20:11:01) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (3)=3.(20:11:08) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d100 and gets (30)=30.(20:11:08) (PC)_Trent): ((20:11:23) ((GM)_Prysus): ((They needed a Natural 01 to pull that one off.(20:12:24) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent manages to elude the first group, but there is still a long way to go through this complex.(20:14:36) ((GM)_Prysus): However, there are more skiffs in here, and all except one are under the enemy's control.(20:14:47) ((GM)_Prysus): Another is approaching.(20:15:09) ((GM)_Prysus): Enemy skiff ...(20:15:11) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d100 and gets (55)=55.(20:16:18) (PC)_Trent): *attempts to outrun them and outmaneuver them, this time going up and over, if possible will try to maueuver so two crash into eachother*(20:16:21) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (90)=90.(20:16:28) (PC)_Trent):(20:16:51) ((GM)_Prysus): Some of the drones are going to be able to jump over, but it's also going to try and ram them! Roll to dodge.(20:17:01) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d20 and gets (11)+3=14.(20:18:13) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (9)+8=17.(20:18:20) (PC)_Trent): (had to look up bonus(20:18:28) ((GM)_Prysus): ((That's fine.(20:18:55) ((GM)_Prysus): They have boarders, but Trent manages to avoid the impact and protects the skiff from taking more damage.(20:19:13) ((GM)_Prysus): However, the other skiff is still on their tail and can try to unload more boarders if Trent can't shake them.(20:21:22) (PC)_Trent): "Hold on tight!" *does a dive to try to get down, and will brake at a veryy slightly upward tilt (so force will push passengers against the skiff and hold them tighter) so his skiff goes underneath/behind the enemy.*(20:21:25) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (61)=61.(20:21:32) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d100 and gets (15)=15.(20:22:33) ((GM)_Prysus): He can't lose the Skiff and they're able to unload addtional boarders. But the boarders are all unloaded now and they won't have anymore. However, they will try to ram Trent one more time.(20:22:38) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d20 and gets (6)+3=9.(20:22:47) ((GM)_Prysus): So don't roll a 1.(20:23:13) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (12)+8=20.(20:23:15) (PC)_Trent): (teehee)(20:24:45) ((GM)_Prysus): That skiff breaks off pursuit, likely to pick up more passengers to unload. However, Trent's path seems to have taken him into the path of some security cannons. They are double barreled and look like they'll pack quite an impact if they hit (2 damage, not just 1).(20:24:52) ((GM)_Prysus): Cannons ...(20:24:56) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d20 and gets (5)+5=10.(20:25:30) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (18)+8=26.(20:25:46) (PC)_Trent): *dodges the cannon fire!*(20:26:01) (PC)_Trent): (and for the boarders, they're getting on Trent's skiff, and his team have to dispatch them?)(20:26:13) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent easily avoids. If he can roll a 55% or lower (his bonuses factored in) he can maneuver out of cannon range.(20:26:28) ((GM)_Prysus): Yes, the boarders get on the skiff and the others of the group have to fight them off.(20:27:08) ((GM)_Prysus): I'm not rolling for them because it's just NPC match-ups and more for the feeling of what's going on then a big part in game mechanics since Trent isn't involved.(20:27:20) (PC)_Trent): (teehee)(20:27:25) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (25)=25.(20:27:59) (PC)_Trent): *Maneuvers out of cannon range and tries to avoid the other skiffs.* "Everyone holding on tight? Hey, Holiday, I think I can pilot this thing.(20:29:02) ((GM)_Prysus): Another skiff approaches. This one seems like it's a bit more suited for combat and even has a small weapon mounted onto its front (so if Trent is in front they can fire at him). It also has some more potential boarders.(20:29:10) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d100 and gets (87)=87.(20:30:34) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (40)=40.(20:30:49) (PC)_Trent): *tries to get behind it.*(20:31:23) ((GM)_Prysus): Okay, he can get behind it ... but that won't help him get away (because then he'll still have to get through them to get to their destination).(20:32:06) ((GM)_Prysus): Though if you have a plan go for it. You rolled well enough.(20:32:10) (PC)_Trent): "Gill... can you freeze them?"(20:32:21) (PC)_Trent): "I can't use the air stone to short them out and pilot at the same time."(20:33:03) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil, "I can freeze one, but there will still be more of them."Sky, "Then just freeze the pilot." (20:33:38) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil (for the strike), then the pilot for dodging (more a factor of the skiff moving and so forth than actively trying to dodge) ...(20:33:40) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 2d20 and gets (4,7)=11.(20:35:32) ((GM)_Prysus): It's a difficult angle to get a clear target on the pilot and with the two skiffs both moving, but Gil manages to freeze the pilot (just barely, and only because the Element Stones provide a decent bonus). The skiff goes down and crashes into the ground taking the boarders with it.(20:36:42) (PC)_Trent): "Nicely done!(20:36:51) (PC)_Trent): *heads for the end of the area.*(20:36:53) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d100 and gets (26)=26.(20:37:04) (PC)_Trent): "Everyone alive? In one piece?"(20:38:21) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent is able to land the skiff. Gil (to Trent), "I think I lost my stomach somewhere back there if that counts." Holiday, "You're tough. You'll live."(20:39:39) (PC)_Trent): *chuckles* "Want me to take you back to look for it?(20:47:14) ((GM)_Prysus): The group heads through the doors before them. It is a very large room. At the center of the room they see a capsule with several wires and cords going into it. And there he is. Inside the capsule is the reason they're here: Beta. The capsule starts to open. Suddenly Sky unleashes a fireball from her Fire Stone! She doesn't appear to have any intention of letting Beta get ready. After a series of fireballs the capsule explodes. Standing at the heart of it is Beta. He's completely untouched from the fireballs and explosion. Beta, "Sky, I've been waiting for you. The final scene of the world would not be set without its stars set to take the stage. I've been setting our final act by using the abandoned equipment here to make me a god."Sky, "You have a lot of power, I'll grant you that. But there's one major difference between you and a god. A god can't be killed, but your tale ends now." Beta, "We'll see if your sword can back up those words." (20:48:19) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And unless you have something in particular to add, I'll say roll initiative.))(20:48:32) (PC)_Trent): oO(Greatest line... ever!(20:48:40) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (17)+1=18.(20:49:00) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta, Sky, Holiday, Aerial, Evrym2, Gil ...(20:49:04) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 6d20 and gets (13,14,17,13,19,11)=87.(20:51:01) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, Trent, Holiday, Beta, Sky, Aerial, Gil (in that order) ...(20:52:07) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, Beta (with massive bonuses), Holiday, Beta (with massive bonuses) ...(20:52:22) ((GM)_Prysus): And since it's group start Trent can go when he's ready.(20:52:26) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 4d20 and gets (18,7,1,20)=46.(20:53:15) (PC)_Trent): *saves his special technique for the player to use a Combo, and gives a quick jab with his blade*(20:53:27) ChatBot: (PC)_Trent) rolls 1d20 and gets (1)+8=9.(20:53:35) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta defense ...(20:53:37) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 1d20 and gets (6)=6.(20:53:42) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ...(20:53:43) (PC)_Trent): (soooo glad I didn't waste a special =)) )(20:53:52) ((GM)_Prysus): ((Teehee.))(20:59:12) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2 moves in quickly. Before he gets there Holiday fires off a couple shots. Beta blocks the shots using the blade of his sword! Evrym2 takes a swipe with one of his blades but Beta moves so fast he nearly disappears from sight as he avoids it. With amazing speed that could match that of Sky he appears in front of Holiday and cuts into him with several slashes of his sword doing massive damage. Trent moves in with a quick jab of his sword to take the attention off of Holiday. Beta easily parries it with his sword and then merely moving his hand Trent is pushed back. Even though Beta never touched him Trent is knocked off his feet (Telekinetic Push, and Trent roll a Natural 1). Before Beta can follow up on the attack Evrym2 returns with a slash to the side drawing blood from the silver sable. It's only a flesh wound, but it does help to show he is capable of being harmed.(21:00:16) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta (attack), Sky (defense), Sky (attack), Beta (defense), Gil (attack), Beta (defense) ... ((And Aerial will heal so she doesn't roll.))(21:00:20) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 6d20 and gets (5,16,19,4,17,5)=66.(21:01:06) ((GM)_Prysus): Typing ...(21:04:12) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta moves quickly after the hit from Evrym2. He goes straight towards Sky. The two lock their blades. Sky ducks and then dodges to the side avoiding two quick swipes, then retaliating with a sword strike that cuts into Beta. She goes for another attack but that is parried as the two lock their blades once again. Suddenly the ice crystals form around Beta and move in to freeze him. With amazing speed Beta actually moves back and out of the way! Or at least, mostly out of the way. His arm and sword were caught in the freeze and appear to still be frozen though the sable avoided most of the impact.(21:05:17) ((GM)_Prysus): Both Holiday and Trent need an action to recover from their Natural 1s (loss of action, with Holiday also getting totally creamed as a result of Beta rolling a Natural 20 for his defense).(21:05:23) (PC)_Trent): *scrambles to his feet*(21:06:10) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, Beta, Beta, Sky, Sky, Beta, Gil, Beta ...(21:06:13) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 8d20 and gets (17,7,11,18,19,5,16,3)=96.(21:12:28) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2 moves in. Beta avoids a couple, but takes a hit as his arm and sword are still frozen and cannot parry. Beta suddenly flares up for just a moment, but the flames manage to melt the entrapped arm. However, in that moment it leaves him open for Sky to attack with another hit. Gil moves in and slashes with his polearm. The group is doing well, but it is important to keep in mind the amazing healing rate (bio-regeneration) of Beta. Even though they are dealing damage Beta is healing almost just as fast. That is one of the things that is making him so dangerous. Those blows landed by Sky though are taking the longest to heal. She has a psi-blocker upgrade on her sword, and appears the hits taken by her help impede his bio-regeneration.(21:12:50) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2, Beta, Holiday, Beta ... The sword of Trent is parried to the side. Without the whirlwind of combat ever stepping Beta sidesteps to avoid the flurry of bullets coming from Holiday. However, that dodge put him in a perfect flanked position from both Evrym2 and Trent who both get a quick hit on him.(21:24:03) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta, Sky, Sky, Beta, Gil, Beta ...(21:24:06) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 6d20 and gets (18,13,5,3,5,8)=52.(21:26:18) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta and Sky move in, with a quick series of parries and attacks neither get anywhere. With another Telekinetic Push he blasts Evrym2 back, though he doesn't knock him to the ground. At the same moment he clears Evrym2 out of the way Trent moves in with his Lightning Blade bringing it up towards the sable's body. Beta parries it with considerable skill, but the electricity is traveling from Trent's Blade to Beta! Somehow though it seems like Beta is simply absorbing all the power!(21:37:50) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta (attack), Aerial (defense), Sky, Beta, Gil, Beta ...(21:37:54) ChatBot: ((GM)_Prysus) rolls 6d20 and gets (11,17,18,13,20,6)=85.(21:42:19) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And depending on fun of the player we can always skip to the end, especially considering how horribly Beta is doing.(21:42:51) (PC)_Trent): (we can skip to end.(21:46:02) ((GM)_Prysus): The group continues to battle Beta. He's good, but the group is clearly higher level than even Trent realized making it go a lot smoother than he'd ever realize. Of course, Beta is taking on six of them as opposed to just one on one. Reducing the fight to a one on one, or even removing half the party as in some older game mechanics, Beta would have likely done far better. However, to make Beta still beatable without making him seem weaker from the previous version several additions were added to the game mechanic such as the Element Stones as well as allowing a larger party than previously allowed. The battle goes much quicker than they'd have originally thought, but that only shows how strong they've gotten over the journey. Eventually, enough damage is dealt to Beta to begin the cut scene ... ((Typing))(22:32:36) ((GM)_Prysus): The group swarms over Beta. He tries to move, but there are too many and they are flanking him. Sky comes up and is coming down for a finishing move. Suddenly her blade hits a shield. All of the group is suddenly being held at bay, and then pushed back! Each member of the group is slammed against a wall, suspended in mid-air, totally helpless. The force from his power is starting to crush them. Sky is straight ahead and manages to start and pry herself off the wall. It's the power of her anti-psi upgrade as well pure force of will. Of course, Sky is the main character of this game. If one of the other starting characters were selected they tend to be the final star in this show off. The wounds of Beta continue to heal, "Admit it Sky, it's over. My power has grown too great and you are too weak."(22:32:48) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky screams out, "I won't let you hurt them!" She completely breaks free from his grip and sprints forward. Beta releases his hold on the others so that he can move to parry. The rest of the group falls to the ground, their bodies injured and barely moving at the moment, as Sky and Beta clash. With ease Beta is holding her off now. If she had a chance of holding him off one on one she wasted more of her strength trying to break free of his telekinetic grip. The interesting thing about some of these endings is that the game mechanic actually takes into account things like the power of the characters and their actions throughout the game to determine which scene plays at the end. So this isn't just some forced set scene, it has actually been determined by the course of actions they've taken throughout the game. Beta cuts into Sky and sends her back. She hits the ground and is barely holding herself up with her sword. As Beta moves in he tells her, "You're weak, Sky."(22:33:05) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky struggles to reply, "No, I have a strength you'll never understand."Beta, "Oh please, don't give me some trite response about your friends." Sky struggles to her feet, "It's true. It's I because have friends on my side that you'll never be able to win." Beta, "Oh please. If you hadn't wasted your efforts on them and kept the Elemetnal Stones for yourself you'd have had the power to fight me as an equal. Instead you've wasted your efforts on them, and that is why you are in the condition you are now." His words are true. Trent knows it. It's hard to do, but he has played through the game with Sky strong enough to beat Beta one on one before. If this player had given all the Element Stones to Sky instead of sharing them with Trent and Gil she may have been able to do it as well. Beta continues, "I will make you understand as I slowly cut the last of your life from your body." (22:33:29) ((GM)_Prysus): Beta moves in to attack. Sky isn't going to be able to defend in time! Suddenly there is a flash of lightning and a blur of lightning. Appearing in front of Sky is Nanato! He grips the arms of Beta as the two of them struggle in a power grip. It seems he had followed them and now come to help. Nanato calls out, "Quickly Sky, do it! You have to end it now. Run us both through. I can't hold him for much longer."Sky hesitates, but then Nanato adds, "Sky, do you remember what I told you? A hero must sacrifice everything, even your own heart. For the sake of the world, you have to do it." (22:33:38) ((GM)_Prysus): Sky grips her sword, readying herself to attack. Trent knows of this scene. She runs them both through, killing them both. It's a tragic ending, but there is little choice. Then she moves. With a motion she throws her sword the same as her Special Technique. Instead of cutting through them both it takes an arc and slices between the two driving them apart. Nanato hits the floor, weak from the struggle at this older age and asks, "Why? You said you understood. It had to be done."(22:33:57) ((GM)_Prysus): The blade comes back around and she catches it. "What good is saving the world if we have to sacrifice everyone to do it? I said I understood, I never said I agreed." This is definitely a different ending that Trent hasn't heard of before. Of course, Sky has taken the path of good and sharing everything with the team. Trent hasn't really had much success in doing both. He's taken times to get everything in sight and getting as much experience point as he could but shared with his group, and he's done the right thing but kept as much power for his main character as possible, but never had much success at both. It is one of the hardest paths in the game.Beta, "And that is why you are a fool. I told Nanato once that you will need to kill me in a single move. As you are now you stand now chance." (22:34:06) ((GM)_Prysus): Before he can act, the scene cuts over to Holiday. He's sitting behind a very large gun that appears to be a prototype of some type in this scientific lab. Trent is next to him, and the sword with the Turbo Tech upgrade placed into it. The weapon discharges. Its immense power hurtles towards Beta. This weapon is the type to be used on a starship to take on battle cruisers, and its full fury is being directed at one small target. It impacts directly in front of Beta and reveals a bubble shield protecting the sable. Clearly Beta is struggling, but he's actually holding it off! This kind of power should be able to level a city, and this lone warrior is taking it head on. The hands of Beta move, and the enter weapon starts to shudder. Beta is using his Telekinesis to tear it asunder.(22:34:18) ((GM)_Prysus): Trent is the first out of the way, but Holiday holds on for as long as possible. The weapon is starting to crack through the Telekinetic Force Field, if he can just hold on a little longer. Then the weapon is ripped from its housing and goes crashing. It's hard to tell if Holiday got out of the way in time. Fortunately the shield looks like it's about to break. Evrym2 moves in quickly with a series of ferocious slashes causing it to shatter. A bolt of lightning comes streaking down from the sky from the Air Stone. It's difficult, but Trent manages to keep it up so the attack is constant. The electricity is enough to hold Beta in place for a time. The ice shards all form around Beta and encase him in solid ice. The next scene is Sky coming down, her sword roaring with flames as it slices clean through the frozen Beta, the heat and ice causing it to suddenly explode out sending ice splinters everywhere.(22:34:28) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday manages to get up from the rubble and limps over. It looks like he took some damage from the impact, but he managed to survive. The group gathers around the destroyed fragments of Beta. Sky looks over at them, "It's really over." The scene starts to pan upwards.(22:34:43) ((GM)_Prysus): Gil returns to the Dolphin Free States and is greeted by his people and retakes his rightful place as their leader, returning to normal business and having talks and trade wit the Great City and its Chief Directorate, the Jarn.(22:34:51) ((GM)_Prysus): The following scenes take place during the ending. Aerial enters into the home of her grandmother and gives a hug. Shortly after, Nanato enters. The face of the grandmother shows her surprise, and her joy. The two embrace and he gives her a kiss.(22:34:59) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym2 accompanies Trent home and meets his mother, and learns to help in Trent's workshop/garage.(22:35:06) ((GM)_Prysus): Holiday is seen on the Ranch. There are a lot more Feathered Runners there and some of various types. The highly spirited Air Runner who eluded capture is there as well, though he seems to come and go as he pleases, never truly having been caught but enjoys the company all the same.(22:35:17) ((GM)_Prysus): The final scene is of Sky on the ledge of some mountain side looking at some valley that has never been explored in the game with the words "And for some, the journey never ends ..." being displayed.(22:35:21) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And done.))(22:35:46) (PC)_Trent): ( *reads*(22:40:42) (PC)_Trent): ( *claps* Very nice.(22:43:31) (PC)_Trent): (and a very good place to end it, on that epic note.(22:43:43) ((GM)_Prysus): *Hugs.* Thanks for playing.(18:10:59) ((GM)_Prysus): Ready? And ... hmm ... I should probably start by just typing up the exit, huh?(18:11:42) (PC)_Trent): ready(18:21:33) ((GM)_Prysus): The ending scenes of what all the characters are doing take place during the ending Game Credits. Once it finishes the game ends. So where do things go from here? The next scene Trent sees is ... his room. He's waking up in bed. Evrym is right there with him, staring at him.(18:22:36) (PC)_Trent): "Was that... a dream?"(18:23:10) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "You over slept. I don't think I've ever seen you oversleep before."(18:23:30) (PC)_Trent): *wraps arms around Evrym and gives him a big hug.* "How long was I asleep?"(18:26:10) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "11 hours, 49 minutes, 53 seconds. You haven't missed your shift, but your date with Noria is in an hour. I was beginning to think I'd have to go in your place."(18:27:10) (PC)_Trent): *laughs.*(18:27:28) (PC)_Trent): "So strange... I could have sworn I machine ghosted in a video game or something >_< "(18:27:38) (PC)_Trent): "It was... so much more vivid than any dream."(18:29:27) ((GM)_Prysus): *Evrym puts a paw on Trent.* "Are you okay?"(18:30:19) (PC)_Trent): "I think so. I don't know. It was so... real. So much more real than any dream I've ever had."(18:33:39) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "You had always worried about using Machine Ghost and wanted a doctor present. Do you need one now?"(18:35:16) (PC)_Trent): "I... I don't know if it was machine ghost or not. I'm back in my body, so I should be okay."(18:39:14) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "Okay.(18:41:33) (PC)_Trent): "I'm not sure humans work that way. :-?"(18:41:42) (PC)_Trent): "If so... who programmed me?" O_o "(18:43:54) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "Maybe your mom did it. You just game from home and she made you, right? Who would know your programming better than her?"(18:44:09) (PC)_Trent): :erm(18:46:18) (PC)_Trent): "I'm going to take a shower. We can talk later. Though... ... it seemed so real... so... Nothing but a dream."(18:47:31) (PC)_Trent): *checks his player to see if Final Enclave was running*(18:49:02) ((GM)_Prysus): It wasn't running. I suppose you were watching over me while I slept.(18:54:17) ((GM)_Prysus): "I went into power saver mode originally. After I came back online though you were sleeping through your alarm." ((Note: It was touched on before, Evrym has a power saver mode he uses as the equivalent of sleep, usually timing it out with Trent.))(18:54:45) (PC)_Trent): "Ah. Did you try to wake me?"(18:55:49) ((GM)_Prysus): Evrym, "You've never overslept before. Of course, out of the Final Enclave V cast, Teal is the strongest melee fighter so it's not very hard to imagine. Also, though he may have a found appreciation of Sky, especially after last night, he has never been as skilled with her as some of the other characters. Those who play enough video games know you may have a favorite character, and then you have your best character, not always the same. Galgrave, "Well, wasn't me, I can tell you that much. Don't think it was Lallin either. From what I hear there was a crash in one of the fighter bays. No one was hurt but ... well, he's been part of the repair team fixing it. Teal is a great melee fighter, but Holiday is great if he can stay at range (with Sky being kind of a medium, and can get beat by either in their area of expertise). Trent is able to do some good damage at a distance, but then Galgrave gets his character in close to do some serious damage. He manages to whittle away Holiday's life bar to almost nothing. Just barely is he able to escape, but the next hit will kill him. Retreating back to a distance Trent uses some good ranged attacks, but Galgrave is slowly getting closer. Teal jumps over one of Holiday's shots and is coming down. Holiday fires up in an upward angle to hit the air bound target but misses! As Teal lands he quickly moves in for the kill. Up close Holiday is much too slow to do much. The upward shot earlier ricochets and hits Teal in the back winning the match!(20:24:20) ((GM)_Prysus): A few days ago Trent may not have won that fight, but after whatever happened and seeing Holiday fight up close he has a far better feel for the character and how to use his strengths and weaknesses. It can be interesting how things like that work sometimes.(20:26:19) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And done, for note.))(20:26:47) (PC)_Trent): "I think it improved my game though."(20:27:51) ((GM)_Prysus): Galgrave, "Maybe I should go have a dream like that too."(20:28:22) (PC)_Trent): *can't help but laugh.*(20:29:00) (PC)_Trent): "If I find a way to share, I will.(20:29:16) (PC)_Trent): oO(So it was just a dream, after all. >_< )(20:31:23) (PC)_Trent): oO(It was all in my mind... nobody watching out for me... >_> <_< At least Noria said she believed in me after I woke up.(20:41:05) ((GM)_Prysus): Scene for fun: A hawk walks through metal a metal corridor. She stops at one of the rooms and knocks on the door. "Sir, we need to get to the platform. The mission will be starting soon."A muffled voice from inside can be heard, "One moment." Shortly after the door opens with the individual putting on a jacket. The insignia on the military jacket indicates a lieutenant. "Sorry, I was just trying to finish something up since we won't be back for a while." The hawk asks, "And what was that, sir?" "Just something that made me think of my past. There will be plenty of time to discuss it on the flight. Let's get going." They close the door and head off. The name on the door reads, 'Lt. Valt Trastin.' Inside the room there is a system with a game of Final Enclave V still warm from recent use. (20:42:38) (PC)_Trent):(20:44:53) ((GM)_Prysus): ((And that should probably conclude the Final Enclave V story arc.(20:45:55) (PC)_Trent): (I think I'll just tack it on to the end.(20:46:06) ((GM)_Prysus): ((Thanks for playing. |
