Space Mercenaries: Game 5
(18:20:51)
(PC)Shepard):
Hiya all.
(18:21:01)
(PC)Shepard):
*and hugs Prysus.*
(18:21:12)
(PC)Shepard):
Brb, checking mail. (18:21:13) Soulcrusher6669 waves (18:21:24) Soulcrusher6669: lol too used to my other game's commands (18:22:50) ChatBot: JustMe enters the channel. (18:23:08) ChatBot: JustMe is now known as (PC)Deadeye). (18:23:29) ChatBot: (Lurking_Mon) leaves the channel. (18:28:10) Prysus: *Yawns.* (18:29:29) ChatBot: Soulcrusher6669 leaves the channel. (18:32:27) (PC)Deadeye): psst its past 830 (18:33:46) Prysus: Ugh ... sorry, tired. Slow getting going.
(18:34:50)
Prysus:
Give me a few more minutes. (18:35:06) (PC)Deadeye): no worries (18:36:39) (PC)Shepard): back! (18:36:41) (PC)Shepard): and ready (18:43:30) ChatBot: Soulcrusher6669 enters the channel. (18:45:07) ChatBot: Soulcrusher6669 leaves the channel. (18:47:11) ChatBot: Prysus is now known as (GM)(Prysus). (18:47:22) (PC)Deadeye): yeah (18:47:26) (GM)(Prysus): *Yawn.* Guess I'm ready. How about everyone else? (18:47:27) (PC)Deadeye): rdy (18:47:48) (PC)Shepard): Yep! (18:48:01) (GM)(Prysus): Okay, but before I start there is something I should say ...
(18:48:15)
(PC)Shepard):
(18:48:15) (GM)(Prysus): Bonus Points: 2 CP. (18:48:37) (PC)Deadeye): woot
(18:48:45)
(GM)(Prysus):
Okay, with that said ...
(18:49:09)
(PC)Shepard):
Yay!
(18:49:27)
(GM)(Prysus):
The ship floats in empty space. There is nothing else around. No planets, no
nearby stars, nothing.
(18:49:29)
(GM)(Prysus):
In the medical bay, Bo Fletcher continues to sleep. After everything that's
happened he still hasn't woken up, but medical examiners are confident he's
healthy. For some reason, he appears to be in some type extended hibernation.
This could be natural for his people, but his medical records show any such
hibernation in his past. Still, so little is known about the alien races in the
universe that it's hard to be sure. (18:50:13) (GM)(Prysus): ((And done. Players can pick up from there.)) (18:51:58) (PC)Shepard): "Thank you, Sam. I appreciate all your help. I'm glad I could count on you." *looks at the clipboard.* "At least we've got a headcount, unless someone is hiding." (18:53:25) (PC)Deadeye): *will look for a cabin with a window in it to claim as his own* (18:54:20) (PC)Shepard): "Let's go give this to Major Sykes. Then we can figure out how many rooms compared to people. If we have to double up, want to be my roomate?"
(18:54:34)
(GM)(Prysus):
((I got to be honest ... on a ship ... I don't think that a window is a place I
want to sleep by. (18:54:42) (PC)Shepard): (teehee.) (18:55:09) (PC)Deadeye): (if you didn't need to breath.. would it be the same?) (18:55:20) (PC)Shepard): (he has a point)
(18:55:51)
(GM)(Prysus):
((Pfft ... if I'm floating helpless in space, I don't care if I can breath or
not. (18:55:52) (PC)Shepard): (i think decompression would still be a big danger though. Anywho.) (18:56:31) (GM)(Prysus): With that said ... how does Deadeye intend to go about looking? (18:57:58) (PC)Deadeye): (well based on the ship portions hes been on from the bridge to outside of the ship would point in the right direction to the out side of the ship and just randomly check the doors to see what was behind them) (19:01:33) (GM)(Prysus): Sam, "Well, wouldn't be the first time. And at least you're not as bad as Levin. That guy snores so loud I swear there was an earthquake." (19:02:03) (PC)Shepard): *laughs for a moment, then goes grim as he realizes that Levin is quite possibly dead.* (19:07:00) (GM)(Prysus): Deadeye, 2D6 (Mind stat check). (19:07:31) ChatBot: (PC)Deadeye) rolls 2d6 and gets (6,6)=12. (19:07:39) (PC)Deadeye): (ha) (19:08:52) (GM)(Prysus): Deadeye searches trhough the rooms. As mentioned above by Sam, some parts of the ship are sealed/locked. Still, he can check some of the sections along what the thinks is the ship's hull. However, when he does, he sees nothing but rooms. There are no windows at all that he can see. (19:09:20) (PC)Shepard): *goes to Major Sykes, presenting the report.* "Here, sir, are all the people that were able to report. Unless someone is hiding. I respectfully request that we start assigning rooms as soon as possible." (19:09:32) (PC)Shepard): (Question... is water limited?) (19:09:42) (PC)Shepard): (Or is it recycled really really well?) (19:10:01) (GM)(Prysus): Right now ... they don't know enough about the ship. (19:10:09) (PC)Deadeye): .oO(figures there's no windows on this tub) (19:11:10) (PC)Shepard): "I'd recommend that we ration water until we get all the resources figured out." (19:12:30) (PC)Deadeye): *will wander around a little bit longer before returning to the bridge* (19:15:58) (PC)Deadeye): *will slink in and take a seat at the console and study any navigation maps* (19:20:24) (PC)Deadeye): *tries to figure out exactly where we are, and where it was we came from*
(19:23:21)
(GM)(Prysus):
On the bridge, Sykes sits in the captain's chair. The electronic display imager
is up, showing just space around them. He looks over the reports handed to him.
Deadeye sees another human looking at the navigation console. Instruments show
that currently they're not moving. The human appears to be looking over some
type of planetary map. (19:26:19) (PC)Deadeye): *turns to shepard* "I need a room with a view port or something in it. Seeing space may help calm my sleeplessness" (19:26:53) (GM)(Prysus): Shepard, roll 2D6 (Mind stat check). (19:26:59) (PC)Shepard): "Thank you, sir." *then blinks.* "Er, I'll check. Do you have a room number that you know that might have a window?" (19:27:03) ChatBot: (PC)Shepard) rolls 2d6 and gets (3,4)=7. (19:27:14) (PC)Shepard): ( / 6 ) (19:27:23) (PC)Deadeye): "I went looking, but I haven't learned this ship just yet" (19:29:34) (GM)(Prysus): The tablet handed to Shepard appears to be some type of map. He can see varying colors on the map. There are a lot of green areas, a few red (but they are often the largest areas), a handful of blue, and then lots of others. (19:30:32) (PC)Shepard): *looks to the one that handed the tablet to Sykes.* "Um, pardon me, but do you know what these color codes mean?" (19:31:29) ChatBot: Erinoth enters the channel. (19:32:06) (GM)(Prysus): Sykes, "From what we've been able to gather so far, green appear to be crew quarters. Red are key systems such as power and atmosphere. Blue are sections such as the bridge and medical. The rest we're still working on." (19:33:49) (PC)Shepard): "Ah, okay. Thank you. Come on, Sam, Deadeye you can help too if you want first dibs on rooms. We'll match our copy of the report to put engineers closer to engineering, medical closer to the infirmary, civillians in the center, and military towards the bridge." (19:34:40) (PC)Deadeye): *will look over Shepard's shoulder for green markings along the hull of the vessel* (19:34:47) (PC)Deadeye): "Sounds like a plan"
(19:35:07)
(PC)Shepard):
*will go to the areas in question, picking a room first that's kind of close to
the bridge (not the biggest one, of course, but not too far from it
(19:35:54) (PC)Shepard): *puts families together (such as Rose and her sister), and puts units close together.* (19:36:35) (GM)(Prysus): And you can check out the quarters and rooms near the edge of the map (ergo, where the hull should be), but there don't appear to be any windows.
(19:37:20)
(PC)Shepard):
"Sorry, doesn't look like any windows.
(19:37:35) (PC)Deadeye): "Well if there is no windows I suppose anything will do, I don't need much space at all, just a mirror" (19:37:40) (GM)(Prysus): Someone roll Computers though (Mind check). (19:37:46) ChatBot: (PC)Shepard) rolls 2d6 and gets (2,2)=4. (19:38:08) (PC)Shepard): ( / 7 ) (19:38:14) (GM)(Prysus): Well, fairly sure that's a pass. (19:42:29) (GM)(Prysus): Each of the quarters appear to have controls for computer system. The controls are fairly intuitive, and with minimal experimentation Shepard can figure out that there are some temperature controls (including things like increasing or decreasing humidity), varying light intensities, and even a type of display that can appear over the wall much like on the bridge, though a much smaller version, displaying the environment outside, and can even shift to other frequencies such as picking up signals (for communications, a version of TV, music, etc.). (19:43:03) (PC)Shepard): (Do each quarters have their own showers?) (19:43:36) (GM)(Prysus): Since I had forgotten that question ... roll. (19:43:47) (GM)(Prysus): 1D6 for luck. (19:43:48) (PC)Shepard): (d6 or 2d6? (19:43:51) ChatBot: (PC)Shepard) rolls 1d6 and gets (2)=2. (19:43:57) (GM)(Prysus): Both can roll. (19:44:05) ChatBot: (PC)Deadeye) rolls 1d6 and gets (1)=1.
(19:44:52)
(GM)(Prysus):
That was ... horrible, both of you. (19:45:15) (PC)Deadeye): (yup, a 12 and a 1, dycebot is kicking my ass tonight) (19:46:02) (GM)(Prysus): No, most crew quarters don't have personal rest rooms. Each section has individual rest rooms, but not the individual rooms, except 1 room in each section.
(19:46:17)
(PC)Shepard):
"Well... at least it will be easier to make sure nobody takes a shower until we
find out how much water we have. (19:46:38) (PC)Shepard): <_<; ;>_> *choses one of the rooms with a shower.* ^_^ (19:46:57) (PC)Shepard): (and will make sure Sykes gets the biggest room, with a shower.* ) (19:47:11) (PC)Shepard): (even if shepard is in a section over) (19:47:40) (GM)(Prysus): Basically the 1 room per sector would be something like a squad leader, while the rest of the squad as a communial bathroom.
(19:47:54)
(PC)Shepard):
(that works. (19:48:12) (PC)Shepard): *starts giving everyone room assignments, and escorting groups to their section.* (19:48:24) ChatBot: Malfaeous enters the channel. (19:48:26) (GM)(Prysus): Well, a bit bigger than squad, but just for the general feel. So like 1 in 20 rooms has a bathroom. (19:48:35) (PC)Shepard): (right) (19:48:52) (PC)Shepard): *breifs them on the computer controls for the rooms between groups.* (19:48:58) ChatBot: Malfaeous logs out of the Chat. (19:51:28) (GM)(Prysus): And that won't be too much of a problem Shepard. (19:52:20) (PC)Shepard): once everyone has a room asigned... will try to make sure of the common areas (Cafeteria, etc.) (19:52:32) (GM)(Prysus): ((For note: I don't have any real plans. I'm just kind of going with teh players for now.))
(19:53:00)
(PC)Shepard):
(10-4. It's okay. my work's new slogan is literally "we
(19:53:47) (PC)Deadeye): "So have you inventoried the skills on board yet? (19:56:16) (GM)(Prysus): Blue areas include Bridge, Medical, Engineering, Hangar, and Cafeteria. ((I may have missed something, but those are at least the highlights.))
(19:56:43)
(PC)Deadeye):
(those are the areas, but do we know who we have to stock them
(19:56:57) (GM)(Prysus): There is only one cafeteria, but it is a large one, easily fitting at least 100 people at the same time, probably more. (19:58:18) (GM)(Prysus): For simplicity (while I have yet to give exact numbers and would rather not be that specific), since this was mainly trying to gather who they could and with the systematic wipe out of everyone by the kazire, everyone could probably fit into the cafeteria at the same time.
(19:58:32)
(PC)Shepard):
okay. (19:58:59) (PC)Shepard): in that case most would have been in the cafeteria. Would look for other common areas like Gyms, etc. (20:01:25) (GM)(Prysus): Well, if there is a gym, it's one of the unknown sections of the ship (will involve exploring). (20:01:34) (PC)Shepard): ah, okay. (20:01:41) (GM)(Prysus): And yes Deadeye, they (at the very least) did most of the crew specialties. (20:02:11) (GM)(Prysus): Military personnel is the easiest. Trying to categorize civilians will be the more difficult part of course. (20:04:55) (GM)(Prysus): There are no members of Gold or Red Eagle onboard. Varying numbers of Silver, Blue, Black, White, and Green did make it though. (20:05:07) (GM)(Prysus): As well as civvies. (20:05:10) (PC)Shepard): Would get everyone situated in their rooms, letting the Major figure out the individual jobs for most. (20:06:56) (PC)Deadeye): "Well I would think we need to get all people who can help in the bridge getting things moving. Staying out here in the middle of no where means certain death in the long run" (20:08:46) (PC)Shepard): *nods* "Yes. I think I'd let the Major take that particular job though... though if you want to go through the reports with Sam and make up a list of recommendations, I have no objections. Personally, I'm going to try to explore the ship and find out if there is anything dangerous or useful." (20:09:47) (PC)Shepard): "You're welcome to come with me, Deadeye, Sam, or you can try to sleep. I'm way too wound up to sleep anytime soon." (20:10:56) (PC)Deadeye): "It's a big place, and I think I would be more useful on the bridge, until we are running a full compliment of more qualified individuals. And exploring the ship means little if we all end up dead." (20:12:24) (PC)Shepard): *chuckles.* "No arguments there. Now that we have a rough idea of the coms, you can call me if you run into anything." (20:12:59) (PC)Deadeye): "The same goes for you. And if you find anything with a view port remember to let me know" (20:13:05) (PC)Shepard): *calls the Major using coms in his room.* "Major Sykes, sir, I'm testing the room communications, is this working?" (20:13:12) (PC)Shepard): "Will do." *to Deadeye.* (20:13:26) (PC)Deadeye): *will head back to the bridge* (20:14:50) (GM)(Prysus): And I'm going to say it now (as a GM), there are no windows on the entire ship. The Mind stat checks were to see if you remember seeing the smooth, flat, featurelss outside of the ship. No nooks, no crannies, as if all just one continuous flawless shell. The closest to a window are the display screens I've mentioned. (20:15:12) (PC)Shepard): "I'll let you know if I find a mirror either." (20:15:17) (PC)Shepard): *to Deadeye*
(20:15:48)
(PC)Deadeye):
(I had began to think as much, but in character can't give up hope
(20:17:43) (GM)(Prysus): Well, I'm sure there are reflective surfaces on the ship, and mirrors in the washrooms at the very least. (20:18:08) (GM)(Prysus): ((And there's a pool in the library.))
(20:18:15)
(PC)Shepard):
(Teehee. (20:19:16) (GM)(Prysus): Sam can go with Shepard, because if you're going exploring it's probably a good idea to have at least someone backing you up. (20:19:26) (GM)(Prysus): Deadeye can return to the bridge. (20:20:44) (PC)Deadeye): *to Sykes* "Have we figured out were we are yet?" (20:20:46) (PC)Shepard): *reports that he has the room assignments given to everyone, and that the Major would be in room [number] unless he objects or finds something better, and that Shepard intends to explore the other parts of the ship unless otherwise instructed.* (20:30:06) (GM)(Prysus): Sykes (to Deadeye), "These are the coordinates entered into the nav system. Right now we're trying to figure out our next destination. The ship's computer seems to have a list of planets, but it only gives a scientific review of each planet. That's useful when needing supplies, but unfortunately it gives us little about what races live there, if there's any political conflicts we may enter into, and other possible threats. Though we're reviewing the inventory Shepard collected and seeing what we're in the most need of at this moment."
(20:30:10)
Erinoth:
(20:32:18) (GM)(Prysus): Planetary information includes things like: Water, land, ice content. Temperature range. Basic atmosphere content and gravity pull. Some mineral contents (such as iron, copper, etc.). (20:33:46) (PC)Deadeye): "Well if we have any smaller ships in a hanger or pods we can use, I am quite capable of advanced recon. I'm guessing some of your soldiers are able to as well" (20:34:51) (GM)(Prysus): Shepard, roll 2D6. (20:34:58) ChatBot: (PC)Shepard) rolls 2d6 and gets (1,4)=5. (20:36:43) (GM)(Prysus): Sykes (to Deadeye), "That can help once we arrive, but we still need to pick our next target carefully. We still don't know the full capabilities of this ship like how much power we have and how much power traveling at accelerated speed uses. If we're not careful, we can become stranded somewhere." (20:40:46) (PC)Deadeye): "Right, but there are dangers to just sitting here as well. Those things may come after us again if they did intend to recover this ship, not to mention other people who are less likely to find me but would be quite bad if they did." (20:42:44) (GM)(Prysus): Shepard searches some of the other sections of the ship. Storage, storage, storage or just an empty room. The next area of the ship appears to be locked/sealed off, at least from this location. Looking at the map, there does appear to be a red color (key system) somewhere on the other side. (20:44:24) (GM)(Prysus): Sykes, "We've traveled a long way from the Tardanis System. If the kazire knew where we were, they'd already be here. From our understanding their Material Manifestation let's them appear anywhere in the universe in near instant time." (20:44:24) (PC)Shepard): "Sam... guard my body. I'm going to check this section out astrally." (20:45:06) (PC)Shepard): *finds a place to sit, and then checks out the section that's locked/sealed off, going through the walls.*
(20:46:09)
(GM)(Prysus):
((On the other side of the wall are a group of Tornado Toads just waiting for
Shepard.
(20:46:41)
(PC)Shepard):
(20:46:56)
(GM)(Prysus):
((Joking.
(20:47:27)
(PC)Shepard):
( (20:47:47) ChatBot: Erinoth has been logged out (Timeout). (20:47:54) (PC)Deadeye): "well there is a group of humans in particular that are after me, I'm sure it'll be a while before they catch my scent again, but it would seem your running the show now, and you should be aware of it. I don't think they would hesitate att all in any action it took to get their claws back into me" (20:50:04) (GM)(Prysus): On the other side of the sealed sector is a hallway. There are various rooms. Looks like there's still equipment inside. One of the rooms looks like a research lab of some sort. Hard to tell what they were working on. (20:50:46) (PC)Shepard): *looks at the rooms to see what is in them, and checks if there are any controls that can open the locked/sealed doors.* (20:51:01) (GM)(Prysus): Sykes, "Noted. Humans are the least of our worries. Even if they weren't restricted to that sector of space, it would take their technology years to reach us out here." (20:51:56) (PC)Deadeye): "well, when you need my help, feel free to let me know what I can do to be useful" (20:52:44) (GM)(Prysus): ((Right now they are where no man has gone before.)) (20:53:12) (PC)Shepard): (LOL!) (20:58:00) (GM)(Prysus): Shepard, there are no controls for a sealed off sector, at least not at the door. If there are controls to open the door, they must be located somewhere else. (21:00:36) (PC)Shepard): okay. Will look into the rooms, making a mental note. Will check out the reseach lab and try to see if it they were researching something chemical, electronic or other.
(21:01:08)
(PC)Deadeye):
(all right well, I'm going to split for now, I'll catch you all later. thanks
for running, sorry my brains going to sleep on me
(21:01:21) (PC)Shepard): (okay. Have a good night!)
(21:01:22)
(GM)(Prysus):
((Take good care. And no problems, I understand.
(21:03:01) ChatBot: (PC)Deadeye) has been logged out (Timeout). (21:04:09) (GM)(Prysus): Without knowing more about the alien technology, or what was being worked on specifically it's hard to tell for sure. But the lab looks like a general research lab that can handle chemicals, biological, mechanical, etc. This ship does appear to prefer to consolidate as much into one area as possible. (21:04:33) (PC)Shepard): (ah, okay) (21:04:56) (PC)Shepard): *makes a mental note, and then looks through more rooms, making a mental inventory of the entire section.* (21:06:40) (GM)(Prysus): And he can map out the section (though the lab is probably the most interesting room in the area).
(21:07:27)
(PC)Shepard):
*makes a note.* "A lab will be useful. Let's look at some of the other
sections." (21:11:26) (GM)(Prysus): ((Um ... did he say the quote part to himself, or after he returned to his body? I'm not sure due to placement.)) (21:11:59) (PC)Shepard): er, he'd say it afterwards to Sam too (21:12:30) (PC)Shepard): "Alright, Sam, let's check out some of the other sections. We found the lab, that's useful." (21:12:41) (PC)Shepard): "We just don't know how to get in there yet." (21:17:23) (GM)(Prysus): Sam, "Lots of sections are sealed off. But I don't know if gaining full access is a top priority right now. If it's sealed off, we may be better off leaving them be." (21:19:17) (PC)Shepard): "We don't know how long we'll be out here, Sam. Years maybe. While it's not a priority at this moment, finding food and water is, at least it may come in handy. But... you have a point. Let's continue searching for something like water recycling or something equally high priority." (21:20:27) (GM)(Prysus): Shepard: Heading for red and blue areas, or going to search the unknown areas? (21:20:43) (PC)Shepard): continue heading for unknown areas (21:20:51) (PC)Shepard): but the ones that are unknown closest to the red (21:21:05) (PC)Shepard): since they found atmosphere, Recycling might be in an unknown area close to that (21:21:18) (PC)Shepard): (if that makes sense...) (21:21:30) (GM)(Prysus): Atmosphere was for the individual rooms. (21:21:59) (GM)(Prysus): Basically a climate control. Like how a room has air conditioners, heaters, and humidifiers (for example). (21:22:58) (PC)Shepard): right, but wouldn't Atmosphere also have Oxygen?
(21:24:10)
(PC)Shepard):
O2 scrubbers/recyclers? basically that's where he's starting because he thinks
it would be logical, the unknown closest to atmosphere. If he finds something
different, he'll make a note of it (21:25:31) (GM)(Prysus): The controls you found (in the rooms) even if they can regulate oxygen, would be like finding a vent. Not the same as actually finding the system. The same as a bathroom may have a drain, it's not the same as finding water controls. Atmosphere is a red sector (mentioned by Sykes when he handed Shepard the map). (21:26:24) (PC)Shepard): Yes, exactly (21:26:44) (PC)Shepard): so he's looking in the unknown sections that are closest to atmosphere (which is a red section) (21:27:51) (GM)(Prysus): I'm not quite sure I follow your logic but ... okay. (21:33:28) (GM)(Prysus): And I think I'm just going to call it here.
(21:33:31)
(PC)Shepard):
okay... based on IM conversation... would first check out Atmosphere and see if
it has A) O2 scrubbers (21:33:43) (PC)Shepard): B ) * and, okay
(21:33:50)
(PC)Shepard):
thanks for running. (21:34:00) (GM)(Prysus): Thanks for playing. (21:34:15) (GM)(Prysus): I've never really woken up, and have a bit of a headache tonight.
(21:34:52)
(PC)Shepard):
*Hugs* hope you feel better. (21:35:04) (GM)(Prysus): I think just a long day and not enough rest.
