Space Mercenaries: Game 6
(19:13:07) (PC)Deadeye): yuppers
(19:14:42)
(PC)Jordan):
ready!
(19:15:17)
(GM)(Prysus):
The shadowy aliens move through the military dome on Alur. Soldiers with gold
highlights on their uniform hold their position and fire at them. Damage is
dealt, but not enough to bring them down. An alien points the tube at the end of
its arm and fires it at the soldiers. This is a losing battle, but they fight
on. Despite all odds, the human spirit is not so easily defeated. Even though
defeat is all but certain they resist until the end, and every minute they hold
out they hope to buy those who escaped a little more time.
(19:15:23)
(GM)(Prysus):
Looking across the battlefield Colonel Curt Radd says, "It's begun. Their troops
have begun to Manifest back to their ship. Without the ship here anymore,
there's nothing stopping them from just blasting this base from orbit."
(19:15:39)
(GM)(Prysus):
Over the barren rock of the planet Alur there is a large crater, all tinted red.
"This is the scene of planet Alur only moments ago." The scene is an image on
the screen of a news report. Continuing his report is a news anchor, "Up until
now we've had no official reports as to the cause, but we now go live to head of
the Earth liaison to the kazire, Brandon North. (19:15:58) (GM)(Prysus): We still don't have the full details, but in the end the Earth Military running the base overloaded their power systems and caused a blast more powerful than a nuclear explosion. What happened on Alur is a great tragedy. The kazire have been in contact with us about the incident, and I assure you they have shown remorse over the situation in their own way. This incident, while tragic, helps to show the importance of remaining calm and communicating through the proper channels when dealing with a kazire. Do not take actions into your own hands. You have designated officials for a reason. The kazire are here to help us."
(19:16:11)
(GM)(Prysus):
"Shut that thing off," says Major Sykes. The display screen on the bridge goes
dark and vanishes. (19:16:14) (GM)(Prysus): ((Done.)) (19:19:31) (PC)Deadeye): "wow that was an odd view to have of the situation" *said to no one in particular* (guessing deadeye would be on the bridge helping as needed)
(19:21:17)
(GM)(Prysus):
((For note: Scenes prior to showing the crater were just for fun. That would not
have been on the news report. (19:22:36) (PC)Jordan): *Heads to the atmosphere control systems, to try to find out more about the water and oxygen recycling.*
(19:26:20)
(PC)Deadeye):
(yea but it was obvious who started it
(19:26:40)
(PC)Jordan):
(absolutely. (19:27:10) (GM)(Prysus): Maj. Sykes, "They're spinning things. If Earth ever tried to rebel, the Kazire could destroy every last one of our worlds. But why bother killing an opponent when you can get them to roll over and hand you their lives for free." (19:32:56) (GM)(Prysus): Jordan, 2D6. (19:33:26) ChatBot: (PC)Jordan) rolls 2d6 and gets (5,3)=8. (19:33:34) (PC)Deadeye): "Well they have left orbit, if they are looking for us we need to get a move on it, sitting targets are easier to hit than moving ones" (19:33:41) (GM)(Prysus): ((Mind stat, plus mechanics.)) (19:34:21) (PC)Jordan): ( / 9 ) (19:34:35) (PC)Jordan): (and if mechanical genius makes any factoring difference, I have it at level 1) (19:37:25) (GM)(Prysus): Jordan can find the atmosphere systems, at least one of them. He has enough understanding of mechanics to realize that this system isn't enough to supply the whole the ship. This part of the atmosphere system could only supply a small part of the ship. There likely has to be several other controls spread through the ship, this way if one malfunctions or part of the ship becomes uninhabitable and/or toxic this won't affect the whole ship. Looking at the map figuring size of the atmosphere system, where it's located on the ship, and how much of the ship it covers he can make a fair estimate to how many others there are and where each one is located on the map. That helps narrow down what each of those red areas probably do. (19:39:20) (PC)Jordan): *makes his report to Sykes, and then continues mapping out the other Red areas/atmosphere control.* "At least we don't have to worry about oxygen, and with redundant systems it's less likely to break down." (19:39:51) (GM)(Prysus): Maj. Sykes (to Deadeye), "You've made your opinion on that clear, and I've already gave my orders on that. It's important to never let fear run your actions. So either calm down and start thinking clearly, or get off the bridge." (19:40:39) (PC)Deadeye): "It's not fear as much as survival instinct" (19:41:11) (GM)(Prysus): ((For note: They discussed moving last game, and how likely anyone is to find them, and how it would happen if anyone did.))
(19:41:53)
(PC)Deadeye):
( i know, there just not much for dead eye to do penned up on ship
(19:44:22) (GM)(Prysus): ((As for players: Unless it's mentioned IN CHARACTER, it's probably best to figure that the area of the ship is unexplored and/or unknown. I have mentioned a few things out of character to help save time.))
(19:46:06)
(GM)(Prysus):
((Just to go on the record of saying that 95% of this ship is probably
unexplored/unknown. (19:46:21) (PC)Jordan): *continues looking at the Red sections, mapping them out, focusing on atmosphere first.*
(19:46:35)
(PC)Jordan):
*and keeping an eye out for water.* (19:47:51) (GM)(Prysus): Jordan: Even though he's pretty much figured out where they all are (using logic, and this ship has been very intuitive), he's going to walk around this (very large) ship to double check? (19:49:17) (GM)(Prysus): And if there's nothing Deadeye would like to do on the ship, we can fast forward some (if Shepard also agrees)?
(19:49:17)
(PC)Jordan):
:-? Good point... will check out all the red sections, so that he'll be checking
them all out and mapping them, and the atmosphere will be included in his sweep.
(19:49:32) (PC)Jordan): and FF is fine. (19:51:33) (PC)Deadeye): (yea ff is fine by me) (19:57:23) (GM)(Prysus): Well he can't check out all of the red (as some are in sealed off sections and just overall size of the ship and doing so in a timely manner), Jordan can check a few of the other sectors. He and Sam have been able to double check at least two other atmospheric systems, right where Jordan predicted. This helps to confirm his prediction was accurate. One of the atmospheric systems is the red system that they found behind a sealed/locked door by the lab. They also manage to find the water tanks. Water is located in two different parts of the ship. Each of the two sections has four very large tanks, all of which can be filled with water. Checking sensors and a basic check of the tanks indicates that there is water inside, though they're probably only about half full. Attached systems indicate that this is a recycling system. The recycling system reuses water and purifies it. The ship's purification system is very high quality. (19:58:19) (GM)(Prysus): As for other red systems, I can't tell all of them as I honestly don't have every last bit of the ship plotted out (nor am I an engineer to know everything that would be required). However, this is to give you some of the highlights and things players have asked about.
(19:59:59)
(PC)Jordan):
(and that's fine, those are the two main ones player was worried about.
(20:00:26) (PC)Jordan): "Sweet." *reports it in, then turns to Sam with a grin.* "First thing I'm going to do is take a shower! Followed by a nap." (20:01:14) (GM)(Prysus): Quick question Jordan. (20:01:22) (GM)(Prysus): Once he found the water, would he have stopped the search, or continued? (20:01:48) (PC)Jordan): he would have taken a shower and nap first, then continued. (20:02:07) (PC)Jordan): possibly grab a bite to eat as well (20:03:08) (GM)(Prysus): For note: While the water filtration system is top quality, it's not perfect. There is some water loss each time. But when doing things like taking a shower, there's still water on the skin and not 100% of goes down the drain. Continued loss over time. (20:03:13) (GM)(Prysus): Just for the record. (20:05:23) (GM)(Prysus): ((And GM is thinking.)) (20:06:16) (PC)Jordan): (right. I'm thinking navy showers (30 seconds to get wet, turn off the water, scrub, and then rinse off) to conserve water. And not every day, but after the dirt/sweat/dust/debris/blood, a shower is probably a good thing)
(20:06:34)
(PC)Jordan):
(but I appreciate the clarification (20:12:59) (GM)(Prysus): Hmm ... okay Jordan, I'm going to mention two things for you. 1: Though it's safe to say in one regards this isn't exactly military anymore, it might not be best to stop without proper notification. He mentioned he was going to check the other systems, which he was given the okay for. Then reported in, and in private talked about taking off. Just for clarity. 2: I'm not going to stop you from taking that shower and nap, but I'll note if he does then I'll just cut your character out of any planning stage. This isn't meant to be cruel, but as fair warning. You're talking about taking several hours in character out of the game. (20:14:20) (PC)Jordan): ah. Would report in and ask if he could take a few hours to rest (as psionics does take a lot of energy). (20:15:02) (PC)Jordan): i didn't mean to make it sound like he wasn't informing Sykes of his intentions. :-?
(20:15:42)
(GM)(Prysus):
Well, that does address 1, which is fine.
(20:16:27) (PC)Jordan): :-? :-? (20:16:37) (PC)Jordan): in that case would just take a shower. >.> <.<
(20:16:46)
(PC)Jordan):
and could be a part of any planning. (20:17:22) (GM)(Prysus): Roll 1D6 (high is good). (20:17:29) ChatBot: (PC)Jordan) rolls 1d6 and gets (6)=6.
(20:17:36)
(GM)(Prysus):
Lucky.
(20:17:45)
(PC)Jordan):
(20:18:09)
(GM)(Prysus):
((I was seeing how much of the meeting he'd miss.
(20:22:49) (GM)(Prysus): And yes, typing ... (20:29:31) (GM)(Prysus): On the bridge there's a display. Major Sykes begins, "We still don't know how much energy this ship has, or how much energy the accelerated drive uses. This means our next jump could potentially be our last. Factoring in estimated travel time, supplies, and potential planetary resources, we've nearrowed down our next destination to three main possibilities. I'd like to hear thoughts. The first planet ..." *An image of a blue and green world comes up on the display.* "... has high possibilities for supporting life. This could be a good option to stock up on water and food. We could gain plant samples, possibly for food or medicinal purposes. If the ship can't jump again, there's a fair chance we could survive there considering no biological threats. However, there's also the chance that there are natives, or some other race has already established as base there. We could end up in a hostile situation with no way out again." ((Still going ...)) (20:36:14) (GM)(Prysus): "The second is an asteroid belt." *The image changes to show an asteroid belt.* "Within the belt some of the asteroids are composed of special metals we believe can be used to make spare parts for the ship and could be mined for an energy supply compatable with known power systems. The danger here is that we don't know enough about the energy systems of this ship. While we believe they may be compatable, we're not sure. We need to study the systems closer to be sure, and some of the scientists think spending some more power will be useful in learning more about it. If the power systems are not compatable, we could be in a lot of trouble. There is a planet nearby, but it's frozen over." *A planet is shown that looks a blue white color.* "Our information indicates that it was habitable once, but the planet's orbital rotation has slowly decayed and it drifts further and further away from its sun. The world may have some resources, but all indications are that we wouldn't be able to survive there for long." ((Still typing ...)) (20:44:14) (GM)(Prysus): "Third is a barren planet." *A brown dustball of a planet shows up on the viewer.* "Atmospheric conditions are better than Alur, but not by much. This planet doesn't have much to offer, but lands on our list for two major reasons. First, there's so little to offer here that no one is likely to look for us there. From what we can find, there is little reason anyone would head there making it fairly safe. This leads us to the scond reason. We can safely set the ship down on the planet and have time to study it better. Since this planet offers the highest possibility for a safe landing, we can risk landing it on the planet's surface. With a breathable atmosphere we can exit the ship and study various parts. This may help us answer some questions. If we become stranded, living on the planet wouldn't be easy, but with the resources of the ship tied with what's available on the planet we could probably sustain a small colony." (20:44:23) (GM)(Prysus): ((Done for now.)) (20:47:05) (PC)Deadeye): "The asteroids sound like the best option... but if we get stranded I will be at home.. I think. Perhaps though for every one the first one would be the better choice" (20:52:23) (PC)Deadeye): "Were there is people, even if they are hostile we can deal with them, there are supplies" (20:59:23) (PC)Jordan): (weird, it had shown as "Still typing" until just now" (21:01:14) (PC)Jordan): "Is there water on the barren planet?" (21:01:19) (PC)Jordan): "Or at the very least, Ice?" (21:04:39) (PC)Jordan): (brb, logging back into chat) (21:04:50) ChatBot: (PC)Jordan) has been logged out (Timeout). (21:05:10) ChatBot: lady_coldstrife enters the channel. (21:05:20) ChatBot: lady_coldstrife is now known as (PC)Jordan). (21:05:51) (GM)(Prysus): Major Sykes, "The ship's computer indicates that there is minor moisture in the environment. It's not environment we could just restock water supplies, but there's enough water available in the environment we could probably survive if we ration it carefully." (21:09:16) (PC)Jordan): "I would recommend going to the first planet, but we'd need to figure out the radio system first so we can hail if someone is there." (21:09:58) (PC)Deadeye): "were there any small flight pods on board, if so we could just take a scouting team down" (21:10:25) (PC)Deadeye): "In case they are hostile, we don't want to announce ourselves if avoidable" (21:10:35) (PC)Jordan): "I've been checking out the critical systems." *shrugs* "Anyone take a look at the hangers?" (21:10:57) (GM)(Prysus): Technically, you don't know if they have a hangar.
(21:11:21)
(PC)Jordan):
(Then I would take that as a no (21:15:59) (PC)Jordan): "So... we could see if this ship has a hanger..." (21:16:12) (PC)Jordan): "And figure out how to use the radio." (21:17:18) (PC)Deadeye): "well I am guessing we have time enroute" (21:18:40) (PC)Jordan): "If we can't get those two items taken care of, the barren planet might be best." <_<; ;>_> (21:21:15) (GM)(Prysus): And I think I'm just going to call it here.
(21:21:35)
(PC)Jordan):
okay.
(21:21:52)
(PC)Deadeye):
(
(21:28:10)
(PC)Jordan):
thanks for running. (21:28:42) (GM)(Prysus): Thanks for playing everyone. (21:28:59) (PC)Deadeye): thanks for running (21:29:22) (PC)Deadeye): need logs before I close this?
(21:30:01)
(PC)Jordan):
i sent them. I had saved before logging out
(21:30:02)
(GM)(Prysus):
No, I think I'm good. But appreciate the offer. |
