I've got a huge backstory. One elder dragon did a ritual to make it so dragons could breed with humans. It worked! But had... some... sideeffects. Dragons couldn't transform anymore.

This is a duel for honor and for the sake of the House of Vunte, and perhaps the clothes he'll be wearing when he dies. It is only proper to look his absolute best.

Elegon heads in through the mansion gates and to the courtyard in the back of it. There is a huge stone circle in it with four pillars of fire (pillars only about the size of a typical human). The stone circle is at least 50 feet in diameter (25 foot radius), perhaps even larger. Around the stone cicle is grass and a garden. The bushes of the garden are groomed into shapes of various animals and such.

First, ice in primary means it may be the most effective against a fire elementalist who tries to become immune to fire (as seen in the previous Elegon match). One key may be switched at any given time (including the Primary) without breaking the link. If he switches Ice White with Sunrise Orange, is it the armor combination they were working with last night.

Both get the impression from the way Lord Vunte made the comment that this fight won't be stopped ... at least not until one of them is dead. A fire elementalist doesn't give up, always expecting to win until the very end, and this is a duel between two of them.

Elegon and Lord Vunte stand there staring at each other. In the distance, the first rays of light shine over the horizon. The moment they do, it begins. Lord Vunte is the first to act and throws a punch towards Elegon who manages to move his head out of the way as a fireball goes zooming passed. With the motion of his head Elegon's body flows and attacks with the Sword of Dragons. It clashes with the black blade of Lord Vunte. Lord Vunte comes around with a step behind Elegon's right foot taking his leg out from under him. As Elegon hits the ground Lord Vunte attacks again. Elegon barely manages to roll back and out of the way as the fist of his father slams into the ground with a fiery explosion causing some of the stone to fling through the air. As Elegon regains his balance he finds he's still under assault, Lord Vunte not letting up for an instant the moment he had his son off balance. Elegon isn't fast enough to avoid the elbow to the gut, which is then turned into a backfist to his fast. The sparks of f

The sparks of flame can be seen flickering through the air as Elegon stumbles back. Elegon's mouth is already bleeding. The sheer force Lord Vunte must have hit him with had to be tremendous. Both get ready for their next move.

The two clash swords once again, but this time Elegon gets the next attack as he throws a punch releasing his Blue Flame towards his father. While the father manages to avoid it, his face is that of shock. Clearly he never expected such a technique from his son. The shock gives Elegon a momentary edge as he comes around with a kick to Lord Vunte's other side while he was still focused on the Blue Flame technique. The kick is one that Brianne has seen first hand previously as it has a trail of fire behind it. It connects with full force. However, Lord Vunte is skilled and catches the leg limiting Elegon's mobility. Both swing swords which clash against each other once again. Then the father uses a kick to the gut of Elegon. Pinned as he is, it is impossible for him to avoid as he goes falling back again. On the plus side he is free now, but on the downside he just got hit a second time and those hits appear to be taking a lot out of him. Elegon is slower to move this time, still on one knee. He looks still cap

He looks still capable of fighting. Heck, Elegon took a lot worse punishment in his fight with Elegon. But he looks at least temporarily stunned. While he may have taken over all damage more than Angel, each of these hits appear to be with more strength and fierocity than Angel ever did. Elegon is still on one knee as Lord Vunte comes in for another sword attack.

As Lord Vunte comes down with his sword Elegon very gracefully moves out of the way and retaliates with a knee to the gut of Lord Vunte, letting his father's own momentum carry him into the kick for added force. Lord Vunte is stopped in his attack for only a moment as he turns with another sword strike at Elegon. Elegon swiftly parries with the Sword of Dragons and uses a disarming motion to send the lord's sword scrapping along the stone ground as it is disarmed. It takes a moment for it all to register, but the way Elegon just moved almost looks familiar to Brianne (her only). It's hard to remember where at first, but finally she can put her finger on it. His style of movement was similar to the young girl they met on Lopan. She had a fight with Angel near a fountain of water. Perhaps not quite the same, but there is just a a certain familiarity to it.

Their colors are Fire Red, Trascendent Copper, and Dragon Gold. Elegon just looks at him, "I already knew you were using the keys' powers during the fight, tapping into some of their dormant power even without the sword. You used the powers of your bloodline to draw out their powers, tainting them for your own means. That is why you have no honor."

Lord Vunte laughs. He then presses the Fire Red key against his chest. When he does this it ... absorbs into his skin! Elegon sees the act and for a moment is completely caught off guard. He knew his father was tainting their keys with his use, but he never expected anything like this. Then, he presses the Transcendent Copper. Without any more hesitation he presses the Dragon Gold key into his body. That is when it starts to happen. Lord Vunte begins to grow in size. Elegon looks on with horror. He's not scared of dying, but terrified that anyone would willing do this to themselves. "Father, you didn't! How could you use that ritual?! Don't you remember why the sword as taken away in the fire place!" Only moments later Lord Vunte is transformed into a full Inferno Dragon.

While he is indeed in the form of an adult dragon, but his presence is still that of a youngling making his presence not nearly as intimidating as it could have been. Elegon is definitely shaken, but manages to hold most of his composure (he kind of knew what was coming, and I didn't include his bonuses in that roll). The very first thing he does is switch Ice White with Sunrise Orange forming a rocky armor all around him with spikes on it.

Lord Vunte's first action is to breath a huge blaze of fire towards his opponent. Elegon is still slightly shaken that his father would have done such a thing and isn't able to move out of the way in time! The most he can do is duck down and cover his head as the flames come down and consume him. :eek

For a moment the fire just burns there where a man once stood. It looks as if there is nothing at all left of him. The flames must've entirely consumed him. After a few second Elegon bursts out the side of the still burning flames. He is panting. Sweat is dripping off his body. The rock armor looks in bad shape, but still holding together, so far. But it's not sure if it could take much more abuse like that first one.

The father uses another fire blast to try and obliterate Elegon. Elegon manages to move out of the way this time, but it's a near miss. The heat from the blasts appear to be hurting Elegon just by proximity alone and the Ice Armor is starting to melt slightly. Since Elegon has shown he can be immune to most fire attacks, that just shows the severity of these fire breath attacks even to him.

Elegon places the key into the primary slot and the entire sword starts to transform. When it is done, it has a striking similarity to ... an ice sword Arhen once wielded (won't give more details than that to not mess with continuity). The sword looks like a replica, or at least a variation that pays homage to the original.

As Lord Vunte begins to worry, Elegon moves forward taking advantage of the moment to plunge the sword into his chest. The dragon roars in pain, but is still quite alive. Finally the sword is pulled upward ripping it out. As the blade comes out, the three keys within Lord Vunte come flying out as well and hit the ground.

Lord Vunte reverts to human form. There is a huge gash in his chest from where he was stabbed with a sword and his chest was cut open. In human form, he can't survive the wounds. Lord Vunte collapses to the ground. Only a second later, so does Elegon. :erm

And while Elegon did take a few good hits, for the most part his injuries aren't that severe. With a bit of healing from Angel and Ilsa, his wounds will be all gone ... but there is still no movement from him.

Basically, this was a sword originally designed for the power of a dragon. In a normal mortals hands, it is simply too much. However, through training starting at childhood, the House of Vunte were able to develop enough spiritual energy (PPE) and how to channel it to handle the intense power of the sword. Certain sword forms are even more draining than others. If an untrained mortal tried to use it, it could potentially kill them. ((GM Notes: Angel is a dragon and could handle it. Brianne has special training and I'd allow it as well. The training exercises are included in one of the books and it is possible to train someone. Considering Elegon already has a high PPE, it probably wouldn't be too hard to train him ... if he lives that is.))

There are 15 keys mentioned within the books. However, it is stated that there is believed to be more. When 'he' was still around, there were still new keys created at times and old ones gaining more power. The 15 known keys are: Lightning Yellow which is capable of firing bolts of electricity from the blade. Fire Red which is capable of launching fire balls from the blade. Ice White which is capable of hurling shards of ice from the blade. Earth Brown which is capable of causing the earth itself to tremble if stabbed into the ground. Steel Gray which is a blade modifier. Hunter Green is the dragon slayer. Exiled Purple is the demon slayer. Moonlight Silver is the vampire/werewolf slayer. Blurring Blue increases an individuals speed (attacks per melee). Dragon Gold increases an individual's strength to supernatural levels (or if already, then higher!). Sunrise Orange has the ability to create armor or walls of defense. Swirling Rainbow unlinks all the keys, but gives them all their primary power. Void Black h

Void Black has the ability to create a null space which can either remove a combatant from combat for a short time or take the wielder and one other into the null space so they can fight without hurting others/damaging environment/or just take a momentary break. Clairvoyant Crystal has the ability to give psychic visions, increase combat through psychic flashes of what is coming next, or the ability to actually control other people/creatres! :eek Then there is Transcendent Copper which has the ability to permanently combine two keys into one (destroying the other two and altering the copper key forever as well), or can combine one other key forever into the sword (the copper will be gone as well).

The book looks partially destroyed by fire (destroying evidence?), but some of it can still be made out. It discusses a ritual that involves actually drinking large amounts of dragon's blood and being able to merge with some of the keys. There is an actual ritual involved, channeling PPE, etc (some of the details which are lost with the destroyed part of the book, but if fluent enough in the ways of magic this could be a good starting point to recreating the ritual). Then, the more keys that are combined with the person, the more powerful they will become. The Transcendent Copper key is essential as well (the actual combining key), and the element type combined can influence what type of dragon one becomes.

The training the Vunte use to do that involved PPE would be the equivalent of casting Armor of Ithan to protect from the effects of the Sword of Dragons. While Elegon has the PPE for it, he didn't know the spell. And now that the damage is done, the amount of energy he has isn't relevent. It would be like trying to cast Armor of Ithan to protect your SDC when you only have 1 HP left. Crude example, but hope it makes a bit more sense that way.))
