gragish: *Stretches and tries to limber up a bit.* So ... where did we leave off last time?

lady_coldstrife: Travis had his men just take out the sensors of any sleeping robots

lady_coldstrife: after the two anhiliated eachother. Zach just told him their second weakness was behind them

lady_coldstrife: er, their backsides*

lady_coldstrife: and were just about to continue to explore

gragish: Well, afterwards everyone returns back up to the bridge and crosses to the other side. There is little to the bridge other than the robots being beneath. Zach is able to detect a mechanism that is able to retract the bridge as well (so that there will be nothig between the elevator and the rest of the facility down here).

lady_coldstrife: "Looks like we can draw the bridge if we want."

lady_coldstrife: "Luckily it was down." :)

gragish: Travis, "Yeah ... lucky." *He doesn't sound fully convinced.*

lady_coldstrife: Zach: O.o "Well... we woulda fallen out on the floor..."

gragish: ((They could have still stood on the lift. :p))

lady_coldstrife: (true. >.> )

gragish: Travis, "I just don't like the feel. Come on, let's get moving. The sooner we get this done the sooner we can get out of here."

lady_coldstrife: "Feel?" *completely lost*

lady_coldstrife: "I don't understand."

lady_coldstrife: *looks around* "I mean, I understand feeling with psionics... are you a psychic able to sense something?" :-/

lady_coldstrife: *continues on.*

gragish: "No ... no I'm not some psychic. It's called feeling with your gut, Foster. It's about instinct, and right now mine is telling me that there are too many coincidences and 'luck' since our arrival."

lady_coldstrife: "Instinct... I see."

lady_coldstrife: oO(The only instinct I have is to survive.) <.< >.>

gragish: ((Question .. after this game .. do you think it is likely we'll ever use Zach again? Honest opinion.))

gragish: ((And wheh I say "this game", I mean this storyline.))

lady_coldstrife: as an npc in my game, but in this? possibly not.

gragish: ((I was originally thinking something else for this ... but as we get closer to it I realize how truly meaningless it is as things stand now. So I'm thinking of splicing it with another idea for ease and story. However, it will cut out something I intended to do in the future is all. But without a future for this, then there is no harm.))

lady_coldstrife: ( okay. :) if you remeber the reason we played Zach, I challenged you as a GM saying that you probably couldn't GM someone like him. :p )

lady_coldstrife: ( remember * )

lady_coldstrife: ( and you love challenges :D )

gragish: ((Actually ... maybe I WILL keep it like I was planning ... I'll just hold the other one back in case you want to do this again.))

gragish: ((Doing it this way though ... it might end tonight. Is that okay with you? IF it does that is.))

lady_coldstrife: ( okay. )

gragish: After the first hallway, it splits into two. Lt. Baker is very cautious as they move forward. He leaves for by the end of the hallway leading to the lift (4 of his PLUS Zach) while he and one of the others go ahead to check one way. Two stay with Zach by his side and keep an eye on Travis and his partner. Meanwhile the back two keep an eye down the other hallway to make sure nothing sneaks up on them.

lady_coldstrife: *waits patiently, listening on the radio, trusting them to know what they're doing.*

gragish: At all times they stay in visuals of one another (technically the four by the hallway have their backs to each other, but visual isn't as important there as they can easily hear each other).

gragish: They're basically doing their best at the moment to make sure there are no sudden surprises and able to back each other up while holding a retreat route.

lady_coldstrife: *watches Baker and the 2 explorers*

gragish: ((There is only one other with Baker.))

lady_coldstrife: ( OH! i see )

gragish: Anyways, they begin to secure the area slowly. The rooms appear to be some type of research facility from what they can make out. After making sure it's all clear, Travis sends for Zach (and the two with him ... which are basically close to personal bodyguards at the moment it seems).

gragish: ((Jack and Eli are the ones who are accompanying Zach.))

gragish: Meanwhile, Pax and his partner remain at the hallway to keep an eye out.

lady_coldstrife: *walks up, trusting that if he says its secure, its secure, and there is nothing that HE can do about it. Goes into the research facility cautiously, looking for traps or security devices.*

gragish: There are various items of tech (all inactive currently) that would be common of a research lab. Travis, "Foster, you're good with computer, right? Think you can hack into that thing and maybe give us some clue what they were up to?" *Motioning with his head towards what looks like a computer in the room.*

lady_coldstrife: "heh.. I'm no hacker. Last time I tried hacking... well... I wound up working for the Agency."

lady_coldstrife: "But I can try..."

lady_coldstrife: *turns the computer on.*

gragish: It turns on. Travis, "Yeah, well you're still better than down here. And when dealing with all these alien machines, from what I've seen I'd take you over all the techs combined up there. Just do your best."

lady_coldstrife: *beams at the compliment* "Thanks." :D

lady_coldstrife: oO(though... all those techs combined would be a really ugly mutant. :-S )

gragish: ((They were working on it for weeks ... Zach shows up and solves it in a few days.))

lady_coldstrife: <Computer, please show me last data entry.>

lady_coldstrife: <made by last logged in user. >

gragish: Last User: <Gives identification number>. Entry Date: <In a time Zach can't recognize, but would coincide around the time period Zach got from the docking bay.> Information: <Lots of gibberish.> In addition, a display of what appears to be DNA sequences appears. The display automatically extrapolates various pieces from each of the strands and puts them into one. A bright red light flashes, and then it repeats. The same red light flashes and then again (it appears to be in a loop). The words themselves though appear difficult to make out due to differences in language. However, following the brighter sequence from above, he can make out a few symobls that appear to have a great importance. A few of the words coincide with dialogue over the various DNA sequences (think a chart with ...

gragish: words with a mark indicating a certain section). Location: Floor 8.

lady_coldstrife: "Eli... I can't make heads or tails of this, the last thing they were working on." :-/

lady_coldstrife: "It looks like DNA though, but of what?"

gragish: ((Oh right, Eli is the medic!)

gragish: ((I had forgotten. :p))

lady_coldstrife: ( oh, lol )

lady_coldstrife: ( i just remembered cuz i know a guy named Eli irl >.> )

gragish: ((I was actually wondering WHY you'd be calling him.))

gragish: *Eli looks them over.* "There's quite a few here, and some of which I don't recognize. But these two here look like they come from a less complex life form, like an animal of some type. And this one right here almost looks human." *He studies the display. He motions to one of the symbols on the chart.* "This right here is a <gives medical detail of that part of the DNA saying what exactly it does>. And this one here I think is <gives another explanation of medical talk that is probably over most heads>. The program looks as ... well, I think they might have been trying to take fragments of different DNA to make something new."

lady_coldstrife: "A new creature..."

lady_coldstrife: <Computer, give me schematics of this compound. A map for each floor.>

lady_coldstrife: *checks to see if there is some sort of printer*

gragish: Um ... I'll allow some sort of printer. And it will provide a detailed map of the facility. There are 10 floors to this section of the compound (including the one they're on now). The research Zach was looking was on Floor 8 (they're on Floor 1; being the top).

lady_coldstrife: *hands them to Travis.* "These will be usefull, at least we won't be exploring blind."

gragish: Travis, "Good work, Foster."

lady_coldstrife: :D

gragish: ((The maps show there is an elevator and stairway.))

lady_coldstrife: "Allright... floor 8 seems the most.. risky. It will probably give the answers that make your instincts feel wrong."

lady_coldstrife: ( which floor was the armory at?)

lady_coldstrife: (and med lab and stuff?)

gragish: ((You mean the stuff above? That's not on this map.))

lady_coldstrife: ( Oh! )

lady_coldstrife: ( OH, this section of the compound i see know )

lady_coldstrife: now*

gragish: ((This is a map of the lower complex ... basically from where they came off the lift with the robots.

gragish: Its system appears to be isolated from the ones above.

lady_coldstrife: *tries to find out more on what they were working on, using Eli's help with the medical stuff.*

lady_coldstrife: <bring up any videos of test results>

gragish: The video appears to be from outside of some type of door (looking through a window). Inside is some type of ... abomination. That's the only word that seems fitting. It's a living Chimera mixed of various creatures. The thing is slamming itself against the walls of its holding cell. The poor thing looks to be in such pain. Eli motions features from a few various creatures known in the sector of the galaxy. As they watch, the beast seems to lose its strength and collapses. From the look of things, it's just slowly dying.

lady_coldstrife: "How awful." O_O

lady_coldstrife: (( blast, Trent would think: "So... one of those things might have survived, and the aliens who built this facility were so scared of it they fled! )) Zach: "That just breaks so many regulations!"

lady_coldstrife: Zach: "That poor creature!"

lady_coldstrife: Zach: "Maybe the aliens realized the error of their ways and left?"

gragish: Travis, "Maybe breaks our regulations, but you have to remember whoever built this place lived by an entirely different set of rules."

lady_coldstrife: *nods* "Maybe they were.. the original Gene Splicers." <.< >.> *says the last with a little note of fear, as Gene Splicers are like boogiemen in Phaseworld

lady_coldstrife: (( horror factor 16 when strapped to a table with one leering over you. O.o ))

gragish: Travis, "And if they were, let's just hope they are truly gone from this place."

lady_coldstrife: *shudders and looks a little ill* "um, where do we go now, sir?"

lady_coldstrife: "What do you want me to look for?"

gragish: Travis checks over his big gun. He was on high alert before, but he looks as if he is even more on guard now than before. "Now ... we finish our job. Secure the facility and look for any hostile threats. That's what we came here for and that's what we're going to do." *He stares at Zach for a long while. It's definitely not a comfortable gaze.* "Foster ..." *Great! Guy with a really big gun was just staring at him! What's he going to say? This can't be good!* "... you're not one of us. I could still use you down here, but if you want to go back I can have you wait back with Pax and Derk."

lady_coldstrife: *flinches at the BFG, eyes going wide.*

lady_coldstrife: *face goes white.* "You.. really want me? I'm helpless in a real fight.. i can see weaknesses in robots but against flesh and blood, I'd just get in the way.."

lady_coldstrife: *carefully considers his offer.*

lady_coldstrife: "I'll go."

lady_coldstrife: "With you, I mean."

gragish: Travis, "There's more to winning a fight than fighting. Knowledge is important and you're the only one who appears to know how to work these machines. And let's not forget you're the one who gave us a way to stop those bots back at the lift. Without a quick solution, things could have gotten very ... very ugly. Yes, I'd like you to be there. But ... you're not one of mine and I won't order you. You seem a little more skittish, there will be no shame if you want to hold back."

gragish: ((Started typing before you had either response up.))

lady_coldstrife: *nods* "Against robots I can tell weaknesses, but against live things? I'm ducking and covering until the shots end. Thats what... thats what another told me to do if any danger came up." oO(Dante said I was a burden, but he tried to teach me to be less of a burden)

gragish: ((As a character, he's being very understanding .. and smart about it. But as a GM, more will be learned by going with of course.))

lady_coldstrife: ( yeah, if I was NPCing him, he'd stay behind. )

lady_coldstrife: ( but with encouragement? :D and all the nice compliments? ^_^ he'll go along )

gragish: Travis, "Against flesh and blood you duck and cover, that's fine. But don't you dare run on me. It only makes you vulnerable, and us vulnerable for having to try and cover you."

lady_coldstrife: "Yes, sir," *with a weak smile.* "Dante.. I mean, um, another soldier taught me that much. If I'm in one place I'm easier to cover, and I don't draw fire."

gragish: *He nods in confirmation. Then he looks to the two near Zach.* "Eli ... Jack ... you're on tech duty. I'm holding you two personal responsible for him. You let nothing happen to him, you hear me? If anything does, I don't care if I'm dead, I'll come back as a ghost and kick your ass." *His words are rather sincere, except maybe the last part which sounds as if it's a partial joke (partial) to help lighten the mood.*

lady_coldstrife: oO(He has the DeathCurse ability? :O )

gragish: ((OH ... watching Inuyasha right now ... did you see the movie yet?))

lady_coldstrife: ( not yet )

gragish: ((Okay.))

gragish: Both Eli and Jack give confirmation of the order in true military fashion.

lady_coldstrife: "Um... computer... what security measures are on Section 8?"

lady_coldstrife: "And... on a slim chance, is there any cameras that still work that can show us stuff down there?"

gragish: There are various levels have computer locks which require access codes (which Zach can get easily enough with his abilities).

gragish: They aliens don't appear to have security cameras like a typical facility. Mainly their cameras appear to only be used for various things such as recording experiments.

gragish: In other words, cameras might be available, but they're not viewable from a security perspective. It would need to be found to be activated.

lady_coldstrife: "According to this you would need my help." >.>

lady_coldstrife: *looks sheepish*

gragish: ((And had you not gone ... I would have found a way around that of coursre. :p ))

lady_coldstrife: ( of course. :D )

lady_coldstrife: "allright.. unless you can think of anything.. um.. let's go?"

gragish: Travis, "All right boys, let's move out." With the new set up, Lt. Baker's former partner is now taking the rear position. Eli and Jack are still at the sides of Zach. Meanwhile, the team leader is taking point.

lady_coldstrife: *goes along, rather nervously.*

gragish: Travis, "We'll take the stairs. The lift will make too much noise. If there is anything there, no need to tip them off we're coming."

lady_coldstrife: "Yes, sir."

lady_coldstrife: *doesn't say it with the confident: "acknowledged, it will be done" attitude that most military types say it with, instead sounds like a youngster trying to suck up to his teacher.* >.>

gragish: Travis doesn't seem bothered by the fact (as right now he's just happy Zach is sucking it up and coming along, so he's sympathetic).

lady_coldstrife: *nods*

gragish: ((And as a GM I'll ask the player, straight to floor 8? Or go anywhere else first?))

lady_coldstrife: *looks over the map of the facility, trying to figure out what was on each floor* "Prototype weapons? won't need those. Aha! Here's something we can use.. robot repair!"

gragish: The floors don't exactly identify what is there. It is the same problem Zach had with the power plant. Even understanding the computer, it just identified them as Room 1, Room 2, and Room 3, not was WHAT they were to the aliens.

lady_coldstrife: ( ah, I see. )

lady_coldstrife: "Maybe we should go through the other floors? Secure them one at a time so no1 sneaks up on us? Maybe find something we can use."

lady_coldstrife: "Or.. we could go straight for the cheese.."

lady_coldstrife: "Yeah, let's just go to floor 8."

gragish: ((I'm letting the player decide. Of course Travis is in charge IN game, so his call is final, but as a GM I can still let you make the call.))

lady_coldstrife: ( straight to floor 8.)

gragish: They reach the 8th floor without complication. Zach will need to enter the access code, but it will be easy for him to find.

lady_coldstrife: "Not very secure, I mean it says the code right there..." *punches it in*

gragish: ((ONLY for Zach does it say it right there of course. :p))

lady_coldstrife: (( yeah. :D )

lady_coldstrife: ( he's fun that way. )

lady_coldstrife: (( trent: I'm brilliant! Im so cool! Zach: what do you mean its not obvious? O.o ))

gragish: The door opens. Some basic auxilirary power turns on. It isn't very much, not full lights, just enough to see without the flashlight/gunlights.

gragish: It leads into a hall with several doors on both sides. There are small circular windows on each door.

lady_coldstrife: *chickens out* "I, um, don't want to know whats behind those doors. I'd rather not look." :-S

lady_coldstrife: *stays in the middle of the hall*

gragish: Naturally, someone has to look. Roll a D4. :D

lady_coldstrife: 1

gragish: *Nods.* Most fitting the point man looks.

gragish: Travis looks into one of the windows and then another. He's just making sure nothing is living in there. He hasn't made any comment on what he found inside yet.

gragish: From a guess, he wants to make sure one of the doors won't open with something inside cutting them off.

lady_coldstrife: *Zach trusts that a soldier has a stronger stomach than he does, and tells self that its probably just dust by now. Just dust. Nothing else.*

lady_coldstrife: *maybe bones.. bone dust. >.> *

gragish: ((And while dust would be more logical ... I have to include the skeletal remains. ;) ))

lady_coldstrife: (well, if its a completely sealed airtight room.. :D then it would be preserved )

lady_coldstrife: ( no bacteria to decompose it ;) )

gragish: ((But wouldn't flesh still be intact too? :-/))

lady_coldstrife: ( some of it. not all. think mummy... )

gragish: ((And yeah, I'll just do the mean and deformed looking skeletal remains ... I don't want to get too gruesome in a sci-fi game. :p))

lady_coldstrife: lol

lady_coldstrife: *softly* "of course, if you weren't guarding me Eli he'd probably make you look.."

gragish: ((Hmm ... I was curious about that. Yup! In Episode 3 Ed does mention teacher.))

lady_coldstrife: ( *blinks* )

gragish: ((Fullmetal Alchemist is on right now.))

lady_coldstrife: ( full metal alchemist im guessing)

lady_coldstrife: ( lol )

gragish: ((And I didn't remember them having been trained in the early episodes ... but it also seems like one of those shows that would be good with consistency and not just throwing some random element in like that. So I was curious.))

gragish: ((And sorry ... back to the game.))

gragish: Eli whispers back, "If it's anything living, we'd know about it already. Anything else isn't what we're here for."

lady_coldstrife: *nods*

gragish: At the end of the hallway the enter a much larger lab. There are mechanisms that can take subjects from a containment area in the lab to one of the cells back in the hallway. There are various other devices as well for random experiments. On the far side of the room is a thick glass that is still dark on the other side. There appears to be no entrance to that room from here, and even the light appears to be filtered out through the glass. There might be some type of mechanism to change that around if Zach looks.

gragish: There are also various computers around.

gragish: Many of the machines appear as if they're used for mixing very precise amounts of chemicals, mixing, DNA data, and so forth.

lady_coldstrife: *checks a computer for the last data entry*

gragish: The last data entry will be what you found earlier, remember? It said floor 8. :p

lady_coldstrife: ( OH! same entry? )

lady_coldstrife: ( i see, network )

lady_coldstrife: *looks to see which subject and cage it was.*

gragish: Yes. It's cut off from the computers above the elevator, but those on the lower sector appear to be more connected (to a limited extent).

gragish: Pick a door randomly behind them. :p

gragish: ((IT was one Travis already looked into, but I don't feel like giving it a number.))

lady_coldstrife: ( ah, okay. ) "The last entry was.. that door." *points*

lady_coldstrife: "Im going to try to see if there's any way to get light so you can see whats behind that glass, but I'll try not to just open it."

gragish: With some looking (and his senses), he can find a light switch to this lab (so it's not just auxiliary power), and then another light for the glass. In addition, there is a mechanism to lower whatever is on the other side down to the 9th level. Studying the map, and what Zach and figure out with his abilities, the only way to enter that room is to lower it to floor 9, and then use an entrance down there (though it is still a sealed room until opened).

lady_coldstrife: *gets the lightswitch first*

gragish: Zach also finds another switch which appears to send something into the room. What that something is though he has no clue.

lady_coldstrife: "It looks like we can't get to the one here unless we go to room nine."

lady_coldstrife: floor*

lady_coldstrife: *looks at the second switch.* "Um.. i don't know what this sends in here.."

lady_coldstrife: "It calls something. Should I press it?"

gragish: ((Oh ... I meant into the dark room.))

lady_coldstrife: ( OH! )

lady_coldstrife: *lightswitch first.*

gragish: ((My mistake, I wasn't clear.))

gragish: Lights to the lab? Or lights for the glass? :p

lady_coldstrife: both

gragish: Zach activates the lights. The room is soon brighter. Then the lights for the glass activate. It takes a moment for the glass light to kick in. After a few moments though it starts to become transparent so it can be seen inside. There is a dark red light there and ... someone standing there? This isn't some zombified corpse, this appears to be a person totally intact! Arms are crossed over across the chest as if a straight jacket and sitting cross-legged on the floor. There is no movement yet. This might be just one really well preserved corpse.

lady_coldstrife: O_O

lady_coldstrife: (does it look human?)

gragish: Mostly, yes.

gragish: Minor differences perhaps, but nothing out of the ordinary for this sector of space.

lady_coldstrife: "maybe that switch will wake it up?"

lady_coldstrife: *looks for some sort of communication device to talk with it.*

gragish: Travis, "Hard to say, it could just as easily destroy it. Safety mechanism in case their experiment gets out of control."

gragish: There is a speaker system set up Zach.

gragish: ((Alien tech of course!))

lady_coldstrife: *turns on the speaker.* "Um.. you still alive?"

gragish: Silence at first. Then, "Would ... you ... please ... feed ... me. It's been ... a very ... looooong ... time."

lady_coldstrife: "And how do we do that?" :-S

lady_coldstrife: (( mental image of Alucard in Sir Integra Hellsing's flash back for some reason. >.> ))

gragish: "There ... is a ... device ... it ... sends ... food to ... me." *His voice is low and wispy. The fact he says he hasn't eaten in a long time means he's probably very hungry and weak at the moment.*

lady_coldstrife: *flips the other switch*

gragish: ((A lot along those lines actually. Though this guy is actually restrained ... and bald headed.))

lady_coldstrife: (( Alucard was restrained too... it just didn't matter much :D ))

gragish: The device starts to send in some type of liquid. The moment it does the individual sticks his mouth under it letting it flow down drinking it up. It doesn't last long before it stops. Once it does, he licks his lips to get any he missed and then turns to the floor and starts licking up any drops that fell. And oh yes, he has fangs to match.

lady_coldstrife: <.< >.> "Were you captured, or created?"

gragish: *He simply lies on the floor looking very contented for now.*

lady_coldstrife: *turns to Travis* "Is that what I think it is?"

gragish: Travis, "Yeah, I think so. Whoever the previous owners of this place were, they sure liked to play with dangerous toys."

gragish: ((And giving you time, but I can have NPC do more actions if you'd like.))

gragish: ((I just didn't want to interrupt.))

lady_coldstrife: (actually.. good note to call it :D )

gragish: Heheh, okay.

lady_coldstrife: mind you, i can play all night, but you have work tomorrow :p

gragish: *Sigh.* Yeah.

lady_coldstrife: >:D< thanks for GMing
